View Full Version : Won't-be Challenger

On another board that I subscribe to, a poster claimed to be a remote viewer, but gave four reasons that he wouldn't take the challenge:

1) His power was erratic as to both time and space;

2) He had a somewhat eccentric lifestyle and didn't want it publicized'

3) If he were proven to have a psychic power, the government would sequester him; and

4) He approves of unmasking frauds, and if someone won the Challenge, that would come to an end.

And then he says something like, "Wait until 2012."

For the curious, the posting is on the Alternatehistory.com forum under "Alien Space Bats" and the title is " Paranormals- why have YOU not taken J. Randi's million bucks?"

Riiiiiight. So a million bucks isn't worth the hassle. Will he unmask himself in 2012?

This guy Supernatural Rabbit Scrib (http://alternatehistory.com/discussion/member.php?u=3657) says;

if I just buy new spoons and sort of glare at them- it takes more like ten hours.

The later says;

But those seeds sprout when I caress them.

(Sounds like pot seeds he's talking about.)
He doesn't need the remote viewing to take the challenge. He can use either one of the above claims. No he's doesn't have to be filmed in his private moment. He can do anything he wants in the other room... LOL.

I'm guessing that the world ends.

Yes. 2012 is the new Y2K of the highest woo order.

For amusement:

1. As is often the case with various woo-powers. If it ever occurs at all, a test can be designed to adjust for any variability. Of course, if the ability is erratic to the extreme (e.g. only works once every million tries or every 1,000 years) then the test becomes prohibatively long.

2. My usual response is, "If you don't want everyone to know what you can do, why are you bothering to tell ME?"

3. See #2 ("How do you know I'M not a government agent?")

4. The applicant could always donate any winnings back to the JREF so that it could continue it's mission. Heck, the publicity of a winner would have a HUGE impact in demonstrating to the doubters that it COULD be won.

Petre nailed it with #2 & #3.

You can buy a lot of life-style privacy for a million bucks.

In fact, you can buy a lot of life-style with that kind of money. . . .

So is mine! Right now I see a broken window. I'm sure it's somewhere/sometime.

I agree, and yet... just imagine for a moment.. hypothetically.. we found out sometime in 2010 or 2011 that some monstorously large Comet/Asteroid was on a straight collision course for December 21st, 2012? That would sure leave alot of interesting questions.

I know, I know, nothing will happen.. but but.. gah... this is one of the few things that leaves a tiny amount of apprehension in me. I don't know why.. But I have to be honest about it.

So it takes over ten hours of solid staring to bend a spoon. How did this person discover they could do it in the first place? I imagine most mortals without too many screws loose would have given up after twenty minutes tops. That seems to point to some pretty extreme mental conditions, although perhaps not the ones the poster intended to be publicised.

Surely there is no spoon?

Why spoons? If I could bend inanimate object with my mind, especially if I were spending 10 hours doing so, I would more likely choose colorful pipe cleaners. I’d make an assortment of twisty people.

Hey Robertlewis, it is an amazing twist of fate that we found each other, because I happen to be the world's premiere remote viewer of remote viewers who remotely view remote viewers. And I'm watching you, buddy.:) Stop doing that thing with your foot. It's unsettling.

Since the Mayan calendar supposedly ends (and restarts...) in 2012 all kinds of woo...I mean, ideas have sprung up.

I also frequent the RV sites as I'm currently putting both the time & energy into learning it thoroughly.
Why ?
Well, I want to keep all my experiences totally public and on a blog.
Heck, if there is anything to it and I can pass a double blind test a few times in a row...I'm up for the million.
And if not...I'm not going to delude myself.

I simply don't understand all the arguments these people put up.

I think my favourite to date is that it would be bad for their Karma :D
Yeah, winning and donating to charity would just be Wrong.

Not at all sure what you just said. I get the impression you are straddling the fence in a weird sort of way.

Can't imagine that'll happen !

Oh, wait.... I'm having a psychic flash....... My foray into remote viewing will tell me exactly what I suspect !!
(for those who didn't understand what I wrote, I don't believe remote viewing is something that exists).

The first thing that threw me was, "ideas have sprung up". Then I wasn't sure what to make of "RV sites". Here it is a place for recreational vehicles, the kind you can live in. I assumed I must be wrong as it seemed to have something to do with staying public on blogs. Then I had to assume that in spite of indications to the contrary the sarcasm toward the OP must be unrelated to the previous statements. Now I am reevaluating and assuming they may in fact be related.

My apologies but I think the difficulties may be more cultural in nature. Do you have a blog in which you are in the process of investigating remote viewing?

Yeah, sorry about that....
I have the bad habit of expecting everyone knows just what I'm talking about :)

I'm going to set up a blog really soon. I want it to be clear and open so that the woos cant say I missed something.

The claim of the remote viewers is that skeptics can learn to do this. So I'm calling them on it.....:jaw-dropp
I know, now someone's gonna tell me I need a life.....
Call me an amateur de-bunker. I want hard evidence either way so I'm going to get it for myself.

I tried to debunk astral projection. And to be perfectly honest, I never felt even close to what these people were claaiming. All my vivid dreams were literally a sorting of the days events... but I digress.

You know.... this is the first forum I've been on that actually has a sarcasm smilie !!:p

Sorry for being unclear, I've been told I have a "messy mind" !

Actually, check out the astronomy watch lists. There is a comet that will pass by earth in 2012. I'm not talking close, but close in astronomical terms.... Perhaps they'll say "...well, accounting for leap years and all, this is what we actually meant !!"

Hope you can steal a few ideas and inspirations from it. Good luck. Let everyone know where your blog is.

Love the Stop Sylvia Brown Site !!
I'll definately broadcast my blog when I start.
I've downloaded the manuals and borrowed books from the library...even sent for one of the training courses.
I'm gonna be so thorough :eye-poppi :eye-poppi
Not even going to hide my identity...
