I love Randi, but in the latest commentary, he mentions a david V. who complains with 1,190 words to Randi. randi replies to get a hobby.

Who counted all those 1,190 words? ironic?

Before computers the way to do it was number of lines multiplied by number of words per line is equal to the number of words.

By that method you just typed either 6 or 44 words.

(44 + 6)/2 = 25 words. I forgot to say you need to average out the number of words per line. I thought most people would be intelligent enough to work that out. <Insert smiley here>

I don't understand the point of the article.

so, David V writes in to Randi, Randi publishes his letter .

Then David V. objects to something in Randi's comments and sends in 1,190 words of complaint? That does not make sense.

I think perhaps Randi has got his wires crossed somewhere. Probably he has got confused over the author of the complaint. Either that or there's something pretty big that he's not telling us.

Yes, Peter, its a conspiracy. You may want to investigate.

And, of course, you calculate the average number of words per line by dividing the total number of words by the number of lines. ;)

Now, at last you have the idea.

Now basic exam question. How many words are there in the bible?

It seemed odd to me at first too, but if you actually take the time to read the letter and what Randi says about the reply, David V. apparently is a very touchy person who's a bit too attached to the idea that little droplets of water on top of more water is not yet explained by science.

Peter, now you are thinking. That is one valid answer.

Well, I must admit I'm not up on my bible studies. However, I'd guess that a large proportion are taken up by "the" and "LORD". And I'd guess that the alpha and omega are "a" and "Zebedee".
