A while back, President Bush said a bad word in a discussion of Hezbollah with British Prime Minister Tony Blair. In a fit of pique, Vice President Dick Cheney uttered a different but highly pungent expletive on the Senate floor. Both were duly noted and almost as quickly forgotten.
But when Cher and Nicole Richie uttered the same words, in similarly fleeting context on television award shows, the Federal Communications Commission's language police took umbrage, slapping Fox television last year with an indecency ruling.
