Just a few words about my experience today with the Truthers here in Sydney:
I got off the train at Town Hall station and climbed the stairs a little nervous about the fact that I was about to confront a group of Truthers. I didn't have a folder full of facts, or a gang of people to support me, I was all alone, so I was a bit nervous.
Emerging a bit shaky into the daylight, I spotted the nutjobs at their table handing out leaflets to passers-by. I squared my shoulders and walked right past them. Having walked past and feeling a little ashamed, I turned back and picked up one of their pamphlets...
"Did you know that 9/11 was an inside job?" said a voice in my ear.
"Well no..." said I. "I thought it was the work of terrorists".
"No it was the US Gov."
What followed was almost a carbon copy of every bad Truther experience you've ever heard about. I was quickly informed about Thermite, False flags, Pyroclastic flows and free-fall building collapses.
Thank Ed for JREF.
I stood there for a while arguing with these morons while one of them filmed me until it became apparent to them that I was a person who was informed in these matters and that they were not going to convince me of the validity of any of their arguments. At that point the Aussie version of Ace Baker who had been interviewing me thanked me for coming and turned off his camera. I thanked him and said I'd wait to see the foootage on Youtube.
Then I went and had a beer. I came back and sat on a wall and watched the Truthers as they stopped pedestrians and tried to convince them about the evil conspiracy. No one seemed to be buying it.
At one point I saw a girl aged maybe 14 or 15 walk past with her friends, she paused, saw the banner and made a fist and said to her friends "Fight The Power!!" as they all giggled and walked on.
I also saw one bloke in an anarchist T shirt with his girlfriend who stopped to collect a couple of the DVDs the Truthers were handing out, "What do you want that for?" asked the girlfriend.
"I get bored sitting at home all day", said anarchy man.
It was a different way to spend a few hours and I know I didn't change any minds, but I'm glad I did it. I might do it again next month.

Thanks. I'm still reeling from all the beer, but I felt I should write about it while it's still fresh.
It did turn into an afternoon of many beers and very little debunking, in fact I'm amazed I can still type.

I'd be up to help you out when I next come to Sydney.
I'm thinking maybe we do a video ourselves. If that video ever shows up on YouTube you can bet it will have been heavily edited.
Do you have access to any microphones to get better sound quality than is offered by the built in video camera mic. Also, my camera only records 12bit audio (it's a Panasonic NV-GS500).

Maybe. With a bit of notice many things might be possible. I would have shot some footage myself, but the only cam. I have is an old Hi8 analog job, which is a bit useless for this kind of stuff.

The NV-GS500 is pretty good...3CCD, Leica dicomar lens, Mini-DV. Certainly a step up from a home camcorder.

So that's what holiday it is today. I was wondering about that...people keep reminding me that it's a holiday, and I get double pay from the kitchen shift I did today, but I never thought to ask what holiday it was.

Panasonic's handycam onboard mics aren't too bad. As long as there isn't enormous amounts of background noise it should be okay.
If it has a zoom mic (which most Panasonics do), turn it on and record from a little further away, zooming in with the camera. This will narrow the angle the mic picks up and reduce background noise.

Hmm...hadn't thought of that, thanks. In a situation like Sydney Town Hall there might be a fair bit of background noise, but for other work that's good to know.
I seem to lose a few of the lower frequencies though, it can make mens voices sound a bit tinny. Any hints on that, or is that just a 'need a better mic' sort of thing?

That's most likely just the range the mic can pick up. Having said that, if you have the wind cut function going that works by taking out the bottom end of the noise, so it might be that.
You can also try increase the bottom end with even a basic editing software, and see what you can pull out of it.

Since when to 9-11 Deniars have a patent over the word "Truth"?
I think we should start our own "truth movement".
They call it the "9-11 Truth Movement"..our will be called the "September 11th Truth Movement". What's the difference?
"9-11" is the fashionable, almost cool way of referring to that day. But "September 11th" is the actual date. No spin, no politics, just the facts.
The September 11th Truth Movement...or just the September 11th Movement, will be devoted to spreading the truth about what happened that day, and dispelling the lies that are spread by conspiracy theorists, leftists, rightists, terror-supporters, anti-Americans, anti-Westerners, etc.

What time were you there?
My brother and I had a long chat with them from about 11 AM.
There was one who was ex-army. He had bought every conspiracy theory from JFK's murder to the Gulf Tonkin and on.
There was another man wearing a grubby white T-shirt who seemed to be the ring leader and a younger uni student who claimed to have convinced his professors about the CT.
They spouted the usual conspiracy theories - faster than freefall, molten metal, countdown to the collapse of WTC 7 etc.
I tried to reason with them but they seemed to hold their beliefs very deeply. They have enough 'evidence' that is plausible enough (if you don't think about it too deeply) that refuting any one piece of evidence is not good enough.
They even believe that the fact that the government was slow to release NIST and refuses to release the videos of the attack on the pentagon is evidence. I tried to explain that the US government sees the truth movement as irrelevant and sees no need to convince the CTers. This didn't work, but the the ex-army guy did compare himself to Martin Luther.
The most telling evidence for me is the complexity of the CT. A lone gunman would have been enough to kill or injure JFK, a truck bomb or a series of plane hijackings would have been enough to damage or destroy the WTC. Why would the government mount massive operations when simpler operations would have been just as effective and easier to conceal?
Did you get a deception dollar brainache?
Edited to add, they are also very impressed with William Rodriguez and Terrorstorm. I think they have read Gravy's reports and have heard of JREF but I don't think they want to visit.
The exarmy guy told me that he bet that I read Tim Blair. He was right.

The NV-GS500 is worth about $2200, and it pretty much bled my account dry. It's the best quality camera I can afford right now, being as it was a choice between having a reasonable camera and getting practise filming and editing, or dreaming about a camera that is the sum total of all the money I've seen since I started getting pocket money in primary school.
Of course, if anybody wants to buy me one of those (and the premium production pack while we're at it) I would not say no. I'd even make a documentary about how great you are. :D

Oh, and I suppose you drink yours warm?
Seriously though. Unless you're from a country with a reputation for good beer, you have no right to criticize our taste in beer - the British drink it warm, and the Americans...Budweiser???
Though I can be a bit of a beer snob at times - my mum was involved with the International Beer Awards, so we always had an influx of international beer around that time, both the really good and the not so good. I'm going to take the time now to plug Schönbrauhausen (I think that's the spelling), a beer that I've been looking for for a while but haven't found stocked locally. From memory it's a Bavarian beer, though I could be wrong.
Oh, and thanks for the tip! Rode NT4 - I'll look it up. I got a bit sidetracked by the beer there, but who can blame me? I'm an Aussie. :p

Indeed. We are 'agents of pure evil' according to the site administrator over there.
Don't you think the leaders of the Green party should hang with John Howard?
I'll be bringing a few more people next time so we can free up people to argue with these criminals that wish to prolong the terror fantasy. I consider these so called debunkers as accessorys after the fact and we will document their endeavors for later use. They must relise they will be on the wrong side of the truth revolution that is coming soon, I will make sure they are aware of this fact.
It is bad enough to do nothing once you are made aware of the truth about 9/11, this I consider unpatriotic; but it is criminal in my opinion to activley prevent us from speading the word about it by premeditated attacks!
I will also be asking them to produce identification, otherwise they will not be taken seriously by me and ignored! I have no hesitation on producing my ID minus the address of course.
Look I don't have any names, I don't know WHO in each network is responsible for ACTIVELY and CONSCIOUSLY stopping the WTC7 footage from being shown on the mainstream media, but if we could find that chain of command, and put them on trial, and assess the permitted submittable evidence of abscence, and find out if there were orders to that affect, and get statisticians to work out the probablity of this being just a freak oversight, then I'm ready to make my ruling Chris and I, me, myself say HANG EM.

Bloody hell. Here's me thinking I'm pointing out that they are being credulous morons for swallowing the rubbish that Alex Jones spews, only to learn that I'm an oppressor of free speech.
Looks like I'll be busy next month, but I will be in the city, so I might see what happens. I'll see if they demand to see my papers.

Have you been reading their forum?
The veiled (and not so veiled) threats against us makes me very wary about debating them in the future.
I had a posting exchange in their main forum. The topic was something along the lines of "9/11 Mysteries Debunk Video: We need to know our enemy!".
I made a few posts directed at both the author of the thread and John Bursill (who I am convinced is insane).
However, I stopped posting. It became pretty clear that I would never get through to anyone there. I told Erik if he had any valid criticism to write a paper and email it to me, and that I wouldn't be dealing with him on a forum that was moderated by such immature people.
Of course, he claimed that as a victory

One guy in that 911 forum focoist is an immensly angry person full of rage and hate. I showed him why the PFT and Pentacon guys are not be trusted linking him here twice to discussions about the PFT and with LYTE himself, he said I was a liar and then asked my posts be deleted haha. Then of course, accused me of being a zionist and from israel but using much more colourful language.
He seriously thinks I am a paid disinfo agent...from Israel!
Its a pity that we have the same kind of religious thinking behind those guys as we see at the loose change forums. Basically you provide a completely plausable, provable answer to a question, but then comes the emotional speech about taking the red pill etc...

I wouldn't shed too many tears if the Feds carted them all off, that's for sure. But I think the AFP have enough on their hands at the moment, what with all these terrorist doctors running around the place. I don't think a couple of moronic anti-semite racist types typing rubbish on the net is going to get them too excited.
I happened to be in the city last wednesday (11th) and saw the little pathetic stand outside the Town Hall again. Not quite so many nutters this time.
Unfortunately I was on a bus on my way to a meeting, so I couldn't stop and chat. It was a pretty crappy day weatherwise and when my meeting was over, I wandered past again, sadly, the Truthers were gone.

Does anybody here know how to report to the AFP? Or PM me with how. I know people who work at the ABC (in Victoria, not Sydney) and quite frankly, that's disturbing. He may not be serious, and obviously there's no way that plan could go through. Regardless, I don't want a damn Tim McVeigh style attack in Australia, and that guy sounds like he's right on the edge.

He claims to be in Brazil at the moment (maybe he has moved onto Venezuala or Cuba).
He is also plotting the death of John Howard now:

The PM is well into his mid-60s but I think he will outlive the truth movement in Australia.
He also claims to be the son of a prominent Nazi:

So are the revolutionaries supposed to ring their local Cop Shop and tell the Plods to go arrest George Bush and Dick Cheney? So next time Constable Smith spots George or Dick walking around Surry Hills or Redfern he can just 'cuff 'em and throw away the key? That'll go down well at that Summit thing they have planned for Sept.

I'm in Perth and have not encountered this group...yet... But I've just had my first offline encounter with '911 truth' outside the pages of conspiracy magazines (Which curiously enough you can get at any newsagent:confused:).
It was a small sticker fixed to the door of the train I was riding. The sticker was not firmly attached to the door and I was able to remove it.
I've scanned it and it can be seen by clicking (here (http://i113.photobucket.com/albums/n213/Bloodwyche/911%20Bull/911Sticker.png)).
It's not affiliated with any one '911 truth' group, but I'm wondering if anyone in the States has seen this sticker and has managed to track them to an original source?

Tell me about it, I used to dread going down there in case I ran into one of those dingbats handing out free copies of 'Green Left' a newspaper put out by the only group I know of to put out a statement approving of 911 but disagreeing with the choice of target (The statement was later removed from their website.)
Up here in Bayswater, I think we have an outpost of the Citizens Electoral Council somewhere, I also saw two blokes set up near the train station with a 'get out of Iraq (let the Iraqis rot)' petition, but I think most of the local fruitcakes are in Maylands.

Some startling things happening in Perth with regards to 9/11. http://911tap.blogspot.com/2007/09/september-11-truth-action.html
Now i dont want to alarm you lot but :
Some important members didnt make it on the day because they had "work, family commitments and in one case a week long truthfest in New York"
But they have 5 very knowledgable first timers to assist.
The Perth Troof club have an Esky (beer cooler) full of DVD's.
They are in possession of a truth trolley.
825 Truth DVDs were handed out. But then it rained so they had to pack up.
