Talks about CTers rather a lot.

David Shayler makes some "interesting" statements towards the end

I know Rachel North. Well I know her in the capacity that she regularly posts on another forum I use, (Architect she's on urban75.net) and read her posts in the hours, days weeks and months after 7/7. She was actually on the train reading a magazine article about her fight to bring the rapist who attacked her to justice when the bomb went off.

In the years since 7/7 she's fought a tireless campaign for an independent inquiry into the intelligence failures, she's also been called a "zionist shill" and a "NWO agent" worse. They've harassed her at home, sent DVDs to her family and home address. They've sent abuse and agression her way constantly. Keep in mind this is woman who walked out of an underground tunnel with a piece of exposed bone from a wound, in pitch black.

She has also been the victim of a cyber stalker, who spent over a year harassing her, accusing her of "profiting off the death of others" and "lying over being raped", day in day out, posts on her blog, e-mails and phone messages for over a year. Her stalker after being convicted in absence, went on the run, continuing her campaign of cyber harassment aganist rachel, and a community of london bloggers came together, and asked readers to see if they could spot her stalker in cyber cafes in london, People ran IP checks on he stalker, she was tracked down. Her stalker was found and arrested in a cyber cafe in Brick Lane, last week.

Rachel North is sodding Rocky. She's come up from the kind of body blows that would floor any normal human being and then taken another, and then another. Each time she gets up and looks at the morons, aholes and vicious cruel SOBs that exist in this world and kept going forward. To fight aganist government resistant to investigation, conspiracy theorists trying to vilify you, and a stalker harrassing you, well, I don't need to tell you, she's got stones, and we should all admire her.

Off topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread.

I heard the afternoon play today (Wed), available for 7 days
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/arts/afternoon_play.shtml

The play called A man cut in slices is about a survivor of a ficticious London bombing.
Can someone tell me, is the portrayal of an American talk show host realistic, or is this a gross distortion? I hope it's a distortion.

ETA The talk show is 20-25 minutes in.

Fascinating story about Rachel; there was a cyber-stalker who came after Jeff Goldstein of Protein Wisdom. Oddly enough the woman stalking Jeff was also a Psychology scholar. Here's a good discussion of the whole incident (http://chezdiva.com/being-deb-frisch/).

I was a regular reader of Protein Wisdom when this happened. Deb Frisch is a real head case. The whole thing was surreal, watching her become more detached from reality as it went on.

As usual, German appears to be a more expressive language than English:

backpfeifengesicht: a face that cries out for a fist in it.

Hello and thank you for the kind remarks about my blog, stalker/conspiraloon-battling etc. I have lurked here for a few weeks and thought today might be a good day to join. As I have a deadline and so my procrastination needs are working overtime. I have a particular interest in debunking 7/7-fruitbattery woo, as I find them not only tiresome, but quite scary7. For reasons which I will no doubt rant on about at length later

Hello,

I've lurked a bit here in the past but decided to join so I could be more of a part of things. I am here because conspiraloons irriatate the hell out of me, as indeed I do with them. I have had some unpleasant dealings with them over the last 18 months, since I had the temerity to scramble out of a suicide bombed train on 7/7 and blog about it - culminating in them deciding that I am a ''shill'' or even a team of male MI5 agents intent on peddling propoganda.

I have a blog, and I also post on urban75, which has a fairly hardcore conspiraloon-mocking policy, but I decided to indulge my now-visceral irriatation of the British 9/11 ''Truth'' movement and the ''Julyseventh.co.uk''
( so-called 7/7 ''Truth'' movement) by coming on and seeking like-minded Zionist shills. Oh, and Jon Ronson and I made a " programme which included the rule-8-ing of Messianic drug-crazed loon David Shayler, which I believe several of you enjoyed. ( Try digitaltoast.co.uk/jon-ronson-on-london-tube-bombing-conspiracy-nutjobs which has an archived copy if you want to listen, I noticed some people saying they'd like to hear it and the BBC have taken it down now)

Rachel N

Hi Rachel,

Nice to see you here. By the way, a new, improved version of the programme Rachel and I did together on July 7th conspiracy theories will be on the public radio show This American Life next weekend, available to listen to all across the US and online on itunes and at www.thislife.org. It is a really lovely listen, with new material Rachel and I recorded. I'd consequently hold out for that one and not bother listening to the BBC one, fine as it was.

If Rachel is too modest to, I'm going to go ahead and plug her book Out of the tunnel. (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Out-Tunnel-Rachel-North/dp/1905548753) I'm told it's a bloody good read, I'm holding on to my copy for my holiday read.

Judging by his recent Glasto performance, I sincerely doubt Ol' David's receptor is tuned into anything approximating reality.

Greetings Rachel. By somewhat of a coincidence, I am the London chap who ever so often sends you an email commending your stand against conspiracy theories.

Please stick around. We will be more than happy for you to join us.

As long as we're plugging other people's stuff, then I reckon Jon's book Them deserves another shout out. Anyone who hasn't read it already really should. I read it again recently, and it's a fascinating glimpse into the landscape of pre 9/11 nutjobbery.

Welcome Rachel. I was 45 miles away that day, so nothing to do with me at all, but these CTers make me quite ill. I don't know how you've kept going, but you're an example to us all.

I'd like to add my welcome too.

I was actually in London that day - had just arrived the day before (from Toronto) for a visit. It made the rest of the visit ... interesting. Not the sort of memento I want, though. (That was the third close association with a terrorist incident: I left Washington on Sept. 10, 2001, and was actually in the airport in the Canary Islands when the bomb was set off that lead to the Tenerife disaster, where two 747s collided. On vacation both times.)

Welcome all ... I must admit I found Danny Biddle's story about what happened on 7/7 particularly shocking...

http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=85964 (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=85964)

...a few of the posters here also commented on Jon's interview with Rachel and Shayler on that thread, from my point-of-view he (Shayler) is, without a doubt, the most annoying and despicable conspiracy theorist in the public eye at the moment.

He's elevated his status somewhat since then. An Icke-like elevation as it happens ;)

7/7 was only one of the challenges Rachel has had to face. Welcome to the forums Rachel!

Listening to it now. Terrific job by Jon and Rachel! I am particularly pleased at the part where Jon lets his outrage show. You can download an MP3 of the interview by right-clicking here (http://podcast.thisamericanlife.org/podcast/338.mp3) and choosing "Save As". I love that Shayler mentions that he thinks Rachel is mentally disturbed. Pot, meet kettle. Rachel and Jon's segment begins about nine minutes in.
