Intent matters.

are you insinuating that I've supported the use of such images for negative/racist intent ?

I think that you very well might have in the other thread, if you're really really honest with yourself. ;)

If I'm wrong I apologize.

Like I said, intent matters, and who it's coming from too.

For instance, several times in my life I've been in bands where I was the only white boy. They could call each other "*****" all day, but it would have been out of place for me to.

Just my opinion, worth about 2 cents.

Also, I could be wrong here, but I don't think that Cosby creted those images. They were drawn based on characters he had created for his standup comedy act, and I would think that he had to approve them, but draw them? I don't think so.

Im offended. My self-righteous PC anger is almost too much to hold back.

I have deleted my post on this topic. I did so because although it was correct an ancillary issue with that post seemed to have upset an individual as well as my comments about Mr. Cosby's thesis.
The actual, real reasons have been documented and will be made public ten years after my death to avoid any further controversy.

NTW- Answer to original question.
No.
No more than (say) the characters in "Scooby Doo", or "Peanuts"

(Though if memory serves me right, neither of those featured a regular coloured character, unless Daphne actually was Chinese, which I sometimes suspected).

Cartoons are too far removed from real humanity to be inherently racist. (Their actions are something else).

Yogi Bear was brown. Is that a slur on brown bears?Or on bears in general? Or mammals?

Context is critical though. Racism is an act. I think any drawing could be perceived as racist depending on what the character said and did, or where the cartoon was shown.

Although “fat” could be contrived into the “race” definition, I do not think that being fat is generally considered a racial characteristic.

True. Peanuts had Franklin, but you saw him... erm... never. Except in the credits. I've heard of tokenism, but this is ridiculous.

Off topic, but I had a similar experience many years ago where I kept being called "Blue Eyed Soul Brother." I kinda liked it, really.
