When I was in 7th grade, a kid I sort of new in one of my classes asked if I could help him put a copy of the US constitution on a computer disk. This was around 1990, btw. I asked him why. He said that, according to his mother, we were just a few votes away from calling a constitutional convention, during which the constitution would be thrown out and a totalitarian dictatorship would be installed. He wanted to bury an electronic copy so that it would be available for future generations.

I guess he was assuming they'd be able to find a working floppy drive, something I haven't seen in a while.

Poor kid.

Most parents just threaten their kids with some dark monster lurking under the bed, but not that childs mother, oh no....

"Eat your vegetables or there'll be a constitutional convention and constitution will be torn to shreds and a dictatorship installed!! ........ And there's a monster under your bed that'll gobble you up!!11!!!1eleventy!!11....oooo a hot flush"

There should be a magazine equivalent to Penthouse, but for intellectual issues, where you could send this in...sort of a "Nerdhouse Letters" section.

Welcome to the forum, by the way, Vacognition.

In high school I had a drafting teacher that was quite insistant that the Constitution did not apply to anyone under the age of 18. It was a side effect of minors not being entitled to any rights or some such BS.
