Do you think Sylvia secretly gets ticked off by people who try to out-woo her? Like they're tring to steal her spotlight. And why is it that everyone was royalty in their past lives? Why is it that no one was ever a leper?

Exactly! I always wonder this too. How many people have claimed to have been Cleopatra or someone similar in their 'past lives'? Surely only one person currently living could have been Cleo if all this garbage is to be believed? sheesh.

Maybe only important people get to be reincarnated.
Why would god bother to reincarnate a failure?

The population of the world is greater than it was in ancient times. So either new spirits need to be born or spirits need to be split. Important people would be split more often as a reward for being successful.

Why doesn't Sylvia just split now?

You know, when I saw her she actually did tell a bunch of people they were nobody and they were really bummed. :D I guess there is no point in believing in past lives if you believe you were a sharecropper in the Dust Bowl. It's of no interest to a person that they were a farmer in a past life.
The most amusing thing about it is that Montel jumped in to save her. "See, Sylvia, I love it that you do that. All these other people, they tell people they were Cleopatra, a queen, whatever. Everybody was a queen! Everybody was Cleopatra! No one was doing any of the work! "

EMM,
You have to know a bit of history to tell someone what they did in their past life as Cleopatra or Alexander.

A while ago I read that Sean Connery believed that in a past life, he was a railroad worker in South Africa, married a local girl, and drank himself to death.
Finally, a realistic one! :D

FACT- All the important people get reincarnated and the lesser ones just die. Just like Darwin said. You need an intelligent designer to seperate the two though.
