NOTE: Since many who know me here hang out mainly in this forum, I'm duplicating this thread from the Community Forum here.

All:

Back on June 1 2007, my gal and I became Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Susan Lancaster.

Here are some photos of the event:

The Bride
http://www.playingcardgallery.com/wedding/lovell/susanready.jpg
She just got ready. The VanGoghesque painting behind her was done by her father, who passed away long before Susan and I met. It was nice that his painting is now part of the day through this photo...

The Groom
http://www.playingcardgallery.com/wedding/lovell/robertready.jpg
As cleaned up and ready as he'll ever be. Note the boutoniere - our wedding colors were blue (her favorite color) and purple (mine), The yellow rose has a special meaning to us. Before our first date, I asked her cousin what Susan's favorite flower was, which turned out to be the yellow rose. So on our first date, I showed up at her doorstep with a single yellow rose, and have given her bouquets of them many, many times since then.

The Ceremony
http://www.playingcardgallery.com/wedding/lovell/ceremony.jpg
The wedding took place in our back yard. The officiant was our dear friend Neil.

The Kiss

Husband and Wife

The Hug

The Wedding Party

The Gift
http://www.playingcardgallery.com/wedding/lovell/notsinging.jpg
These are my three siblings. I'm the only one of us who has a decent singing voice. They tell me that when we were kids (I'm the youngest) when any of them would start to sing, I would ask them to please stop... Over the years, each of them had me sing at their wedding. So after the ceremony, they said they wanted to give me their special gift. They stood in front of me, and said "Ready? One, two three!" After a moment of silence and a puzzled look from me, they said "we're not singing for you!" :D

The Bouquet
http://www.playingcardgallery.com/wedding/lovell/signature.jpg
This is the photographer's "signature shot" he does of every wedding couple he photographs. Notice the five yellow roses? Our wedding day was the fifth anniversary of that day I showed up on her doorstep with a single yellow rose.

Maybe some more photos later, but I wanted to put these up today.

Great shots, Mr. & Ms. L.

Gotta wonder though, why is this thread under "General Skepticism and the Paranormal"? Were the pictures Photoshopped? Did something paranormal happen on your wedding night?

Loved the photos. Loved "The Kiss," "The Hug" and especially "The Gift."

If you want to know what an expression of deep joy looks like, look at the two people facing each other in "The Ceremony."

I would have cried.

Dude, that looks like one kick arse day. I'm happy for the both of you. Remember, even if you're not having kids, it plans to keep practicing the baby-making process anyway. Just in case. I think there's a law about it or something.

Well I did notice something in the area behind that wall in "The Wedding Party" photo in the area I've highlighted.
I enlarged and enhanced that area. As you can see, it's nothing to be concerned about--just a cloud of cigarette smoke or maybe some schmutz on the camera lens.

The serious answer - see the OP.

The other answer - Paranormal event. An earthquake hit their hotel room but no-one else in the world felt it.

This thread definatly belongs here. The other thread (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=86198) should be moved here.

Holy Crap...Sylvia was invited to the wedding and we weren't?

Congratulations. You both look very happy.
I wish you many many years of hapinness together.

I'm curious to know, what does your wife think of your web site against Sylvia Brown? Is your wife a critical thinker too?

Now that's a distinguished set of facial hair wearers if ever I saw one. Very impressive, and I hope you're very happy together.

By the way, the dark-haired woman on the end, is she married at all? Enquiring minds like to know these things.

Thanks, everyone!

Now, to the questions...

Gotta wonder though, why is this thread under "General Skepticism and the Paranormal"? Were the pictures Photoshopped?Yes, I actually do not have a beard.

Did something paranormal happen on your wedding night? No, quite normal. for us! :)

Holy Crap...Sylvia was invited to the wedding and we weren't?Naaah. There were guards posted at each entrance, with instructions to keep out anyone with claws. Must be why she had to peek over the back wall...

I'm curious to know, what does your wife think of your web site against Sylvia Brown? She is very supportive of me in everything I do, including the site. She was instrumental in getting me involved in the situation which led to the StopKaz.com site. And, whenever I would remark on how angry Browne, Edward and their lot made me, she would say "Well then, do something about it!"

So I did.

Is your wife a critical thinker too?We have come to different conclusions on some things (e.g., she is a Christian, I am an agnostic), but overall, I think we both try to think things through.

If it's not too personal, I take it this is your second marriage?Yes, for both of us.

Who knew Robert Lancaster was a romantic?Susan!

Remember, even if you're not having kids, it plans to keep practicing the baby-making process anyway. Just in case.We will certainly take your advice to heart.

By the way, the dark-haired woman on the end, is she married at all? Enquiring minds like to know these things. She is single. But be careful, or her father will create StopKenny10Bellys.com.

Robert, I don't post very often but I just wanted to say how amazing those photos were, and to see such love between you both. You given a miserable cynic a lump in his throat.

MASSIVELY happy for you both, you deserve every bit of joy that comes your way, and may it be lots. And contrary to your common self-depreciating remarks, you are one dapper looking dude!

RSL, I don't know you and your bride from Adam and Eve, but I was touched by the obvious affection between you. And between a Christian and an agnostic, no less!

I nominate the two of you for the TLA--The Lovers Award! :)

Sylvia Browne predicts you will have a very short and miserable marriage! Of course I'm not as good a psychic as she is, but I just had a vision in which I saw a million yellow roses. Does that mean anything to you?

My first boyfiend way back in junior year of high school was a Muslim. My last one was a Catholic. They were both too open minded and liberal for differences in religion to even arrise as an issue. Surprisingly. I guess love is love and differences in religion don't matter.

Seems you two are in for a long, happy marriage.

I used to be a believer of Sylvia Browne! No, it wasn't Robert that changed my mind. It was a TV show I watched about skeptics showing how "it's done." I felt like a complete idiot.

There are many stories of the paranormal in my family. I've even experienced some strange things myself. So it seemed perfectly normal to believe Sylvia was for real. She's pretty good at fooling people.

As far as how I feel about how much of Robert's time is taken up by Sylvia Browne . . . I have no one to blame but myself. I got him started. And I truly belive that what he's doing is so very important! Our society is so accepting of these frauds, SOMEONE needed to step up and expose them. I'm quote proud of my Robert for doing just that.

One thing we agreed on early in the relationship was to always be honest with each other. And, I was going to say that he wouldn't be able to find enough about me to create a website - but I suppose HE would. Hmm.

I think that the show was just the last straw that got you down off the fence on the skeptical side.
