From a story today on FOXNEWS (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,287650,00.html)...a Kentucky family has accepted the services of "psychic" Cheryl Glassner (http://216.239.51.104/search?q=cache:KJIj16t3dw4J:www.guidedanswers.com/+cheryl+glassner&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us)to help locate their missing 4 year old son.

Their son went missing the afternoon of 29 JUN; this leech Glassner didn't waste any time....

And here I thought that this was going to be about lubricants.

Sorry, I'm from England, and I only saw the edited version. Took me a while to get what the joke was.

Still, what this woman is doing is no bloody joke! I despise these vultures with every fibre of my being.

I agree with you. I didn't mean to imply that it was a joke.

I haven't read anything about this. Has Glassner stated "the body will be found near water" yet?

Kentucky may not be as good as other places to play the odds on that one.

From the The Courier-Journal (http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070703/NEWS01/707030434/1008)in Lousiville Kentucky:

"Cheryl Glassner, 54, with Guided Answers, volunteered to help the family, taking them on part of a fact-finding trip yesterday to a parking lot on South Floyd Street between East Kentucky and East St. Catherine streets.

Glassner contacted Christopher 2X, a local activist who is helping the family, through a mutual friend and offered her services for free because she said she felt "a calling" and "a purpose" to help.

She asked for photographs and toys and spoke with the family in the hope that she would pick up clues or feel "energy" about certain places or things.

"I don't want to give false hope," Glassner said. " … I only want to create harmony."

Schaub said it is not unusual for psychics to call in tips or for families to turn to other avenues to find their loved ones. All tips are documented and checked, he said. "

The original title of the thread was "KY Family turns to psychic for help".

My "joke" was in reference to KY Jelly, a popular personal lubricant.

This gives me another opportunity to reiterate that I don't consider this psychic's behavior to be a joke.

Ah, I see. It's not KY that was the cultural stumbling block, it was the use of those letters to denote the state of Kentucky.

And don't worry - the psychic IS a joke, the circumstances of the family are not; no-one thought you were being disrespectful.

Haha, KY!

I'm a Manhattan city slicker so as far as I'm concerned, the United States of America begins at Inwood and ends in Queens. So I didn't get it either.

Your comment was clearly aimed at my use of KY rather then spelling out Kentucky, and not aimed at the content.

As to the story...it is so sad; this "psychic" leech is going to get her name in the press, waste everyone's time, get hopes up, and then fade away benefiting from the publicity.

Don't worry, Katana, I wasn't getting at you. To be quite honest, I'd like to send this "lady" a tube of KY Jelly preparatory to inserting, say, a pineapple into an orifice not designed to accommodate it. Rough end first.

Somebody should ask the psychic how useful he will be.
a) No help at all.
b) Only give a few clues
c) Give hard information that helps find the missing person
d) He will be found tomorrow.

Then ask the parents Is this good enough?
Then see if he lives up to what he says.
Make sure the press follow all this.

Edit Also make sure the parents know how useful the psychic has been in the past. The psychic to provide names and contact details of people he has helped.

The body of a 4 year old boy has been found, they are working to ID it as the missing child (Cesar Ivan Aguilar-Cano).

Interesting to note, check out this page on Cheryl Glassner's web site (http://www.guidedanswers.com/MISSING%20CHILD.htm).

One would have to ask....why would a psychic need to have such a posting, asking for help, on their website. Oh wait, I know - to capitalize on the publicity from local and national media coverage.

You won't mind if I dilute the KY half and half with capsaicin?

Oh really?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kentucky

Kentucky’s 90,000 miles of streams provides one of the most expansive and complex stream systems in the nation. Kentucky has both the largest artificial lake east of the Mississippi in water volume (Lake Cumberland) and surface acreage (Kentucky Lake). It is the only U.S. state to be bordered on three sides by rivers — the Mississippi River to the west, the Ohio River to the north, and the Big Sandy River and Tug Fork to the east.[17] Its major internal rivers include the Kentucky River, Tennessee River, Cumberland River, Green River, and Licking River.

Though it has only three major natural lakes[18], the state is home to many artificial lakes. Kentucky also has more navigable miles of water than any other state in the union, other than Alaska.[19]

Yes, unfortunately, we have plenty of lakes here in KY, including Barren River Lake, where our 14 year-old son drowned in April of '05. I just noticed was 16 days after I joined JREF.

Don't swim on an 84 degree F day in April. The water was 55 degrees. No psychic needed, as my dear husband and my son's friend witnessed the tragedy. It took 2 hours to find him, right where he was last seen.

I'm sure all will hear about it if anything about the case, once solved, bears any resemblance to what she had said.

"Ha! Told you he'd be found in a wooded area!"
"Told you the guy that did it had brown hair. So there!"

Geesh, and we think they don't help at all. We are all so wrong.

where our 14 year-old son drowned in April of '05My condolences.

I've gotten no word from the reporters, but will keep after them. I did find reference to Glassner making the "prediction" that Cano was near a bridge. Her site still has the "Help find a Missing Boy" page up, chock full of news links that report her helping.

The family offered a $5K reward for his safe return on 7 JUL, several days after Glassners involvement.

Cano was found in the back of a trash truck, the morning of 8 JUL; the truck was on its route (which covers 4th Street & Central Avenue).

Looking at an overhead of the area on Google Maps, the closest bridge is located approx. 400metres away, where Central Ave crosses rail road tracks - there are no other bridges that I can see in the area (700m radius).

The burial was yesterday (10 JUL).

CPP - My condolences as well.

My condolences also, Chicken Pot Pie. A huge cut in the yearly rate of drowning deaths in our state would a splendid thing.

I hadn't heard anything about the psychic's involvement with the murdered 4-year-old. This kind of thing takes a horrible injury and just adds insult to it.

...That's 'cuz Jeebus wuz mad at me! Dang it!

(Not to make light of the situation, but if you'd seen how many folks were praying around him in the ER...)

Thanks, Locknar, Tamazon and Bluegill...
