Sorry for the title, however it highlights how confused I am.

Does running increase risks of heartattack?
In a program called 50 worst thing since 1980's, they had a thing about running causing heart attacks. They give the example of the person who made running popular Jim Fixx's, however he had history of family members having heart attacks and before taking up running was really unhealthy.
Is their any new studies that say running is good or bad.

Seriously, anyone?
I getting abit chubby and I want to take up running like two hours or maybe a hour a day, however I don't want a heart attack.

Well, looking at wikipedia(god) their seems to be no health risks associated with running, however health risks are associated with marathon runners.

I think if running caused heart attacks, our cave dwelling ancestors would have died off long ago!

I think any form of strenous exercise would put a tax on the heart (including shovelling snow!), but shouldn't be a problem for anyone in relatively good heath.

Just don't go trying to run any marathons in your first week of running!
