View Full Version : Oliver's Agenda - Challenging his Assumptions

In another thread Olver has revealed why he is here:

Um, my agenda in here is to find out why the F Bush and his MoFu's have so much fun in killing innocent people, hiding the killings in your media and to find out why most Americans don't care - and wave a Flag instead. :boggled:

I we should test our assumptions before trying to work out why our assumptions are true.

So Oliver can you explain why you believe the following:

Bush has fun killing innocent people,
Bush hides the killings from the media, and
Most Americans don't care
But wave flags instead

Sorry for my roughness, but right now I'm trying to understand the internal history within the Pentagon concerning the run-up to war (http://dir.salon.com/story/opinion/feature/2004/03/10/osp_moveon/index.html?pn=1), instead senseless babbling that doesn't help me at all. And in regard to this statement, I use to start threads for the same reason.

Oliver,

I think it would help you if you questioned your assumptions occassionally.

I also can't see how asking you to explain your statements amounts to 'senseless babbling'. You have to expect that if you make a statement then someone will ask you to prove it.

Maybe you can come back to this thread once you have finished reading that article.

Are you telling me he doesn't enjoy watching the deaths of babies? If he doesn't, doesn't that shatter my world view? Best stick to baby-killer-lover.

Bush has fun killing innocent people,
Bush hides the killings from the media, and
Most Americans don't care
But wave flags instead1. Was a Counter-Strawman to the "Oliver loves killing People"-Strawman. You missed that, obviously.

2. Reference to the patriotic Media that loves to censor or misses to show both sides of a story.

3. That's true. Otherwise I would get answers instead questions and distractions. You're an example of that.

4. See number 2. No broad public interest to get 2-sided coverage in the most recognized media: Television - as a tool for Politics/Lobbies. For example: FOX News.

Concerning Agenda:

And in addition to "Agenda" - All threads I started so far:
http://forums.randi.org/search.php?do=process&showposts=0&starteronly=1&exactname=1&searchuser=Oliver

Now I know you would love to ask me millions of questions to back up my claims. And my answer to this is the same answer Pardalis gave:

"Already been discussed to death here (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=83042), here (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=83712), here (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=83402), here (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=83242)and here (http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=83587)."

End of Thread. :D

Too bad there is a difference between reading and understanding.

I must have missed it as well. Like Tailgater said, I don't see it in that thread. Where did anyone say that????

2. Reference to the patriotic Media that loves to censor or misses to show both sides of a story.Yet you keep quoting PBS.org, and multiple other American news outlets to support your theories...

3. That's true. Otherwise I would get answers instead questions and distractions. You're an example of that. You do get answers to your questions Oliver, you're just not satisfied with them.

4. See number 2. No broad public interest to get 2-sided coverage in the most recognized media: Television - as a tool for Politics/Lobbies. For example: FOX News.I think you will find that most people here hate Fow News and don't consider it as a good source of information.

End of Thread. :DYou got caught telling lies and was backed into a corner when someone asked to back up your claims. Now you're playing the deaf card...

Pathetic.

You're right and I apologize - I misinterpreted your Reply in that thread. :boxedin: Nevertheless, my answer was a Strawman. I tend to believe that Bush is a dumb puppet, not a brainless killer. Of course, if there's a difference. :D

Nope - no deaf card here, I apologized.

How could I be satisfied with answers that doesn't make sense, Pardalis?
And concerning the Media: Please describe Fox News way of fair and balanced coverage in your own words to understand what you meant, please. And because the American Way of "News" is pretty strange to me - do you have similar biased news in Canada?

Oliver this statement is immensely ignorant.

Firstly, the Americans on this thread are a very small sample of Americans overall. The responses of Americans in this forum can not be considered representative of the attitudes of Americans in general.

Secondly, this is an American forum devoted to politics. If you are going to use the forum members as evidence of American attitudes then you have to conclude that all Americans care deeply about politics.

Thirdly, I am not an American (as I have told you repeatedly). My actions can not be evidence of the attitudes of Americans.

Forthly, you do get answers but the answers do not fit your pre-conceived notions. If you don't understand the answer, why don't you do some more research or ask for clarification.

Quite frankly - I'm pretty aware of the fact that people in here are no representatives for their country or a broad public opinion. But I'm also aware of the fact that this is a politics Subforum in a Skeptics-Forum. That's why I would assume a higher amount of skepticism concerning unpopular issues.

Where do you come from? I looked up a site with all the most popular flags but I did not find the one in your Avatar.

He's from Vinlandia.

I guess this means todays Canada:

Vinland is also used as the symbolic name for the cultural and geographic landscape of Canada (Upper Vinland) and the United States (Lower Vinland) which some adherents of modern Germanic Neopaganism groups use to distinguish themselves from other ethno-cultural groups who share the same geographical areas of North America.

I am actually Australian, but the flag is of Vinland.

I got the flag during the time of the Danish cartoon riots and when the heir to the Danish throne married an Australian woman.
