Short version is an arch conservative Florida republican with a miserable voting record on gay rights got arrested for soliciting a male undercover cop for sex. Apparently $20 was on the table as well.
Does my gay heart good to see republican hypocrites get very publicly outed.

This puts an interesting twist on P. J. O'Rourke's "Parliament of Whores" as a descriptive of democratic government. The guy offered to do a sex act for money, so "whore" seems to fit him rather nicely. He was in the right career field, generally.
==snip==after offering to perform a sex act on an undercover officer in exchange for $20, police said.
One wonders why he didn't join in with the Log Cabin Republicans and get on with it. Hmmm. Florida. I am guessing it might have cost him votes.
You from Florida? Is my guess close?
Allen told a television reporter that what happened was a "misunderstanding." But Hutchinson said the representative did not dispute the undercover officer's version of what happened in the park.
Allen, 48, who chairs the House Committee on Energy, is married and has one child. He also is a former Little League volunteer and has donated time to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida.
How sad for his family. :(

Me from Florida? I'm actually about as far as I can get and stay in the contiguous states. I live north of Seattle.
Agreed on sad for his family. They are the victims of this event, whereas Florida's gay community is the victim his political career to date.

Hmm, not sure how this is going to play out. If he was purchasing the services, then he could walk in a circle three times widdershins, say “Jeebus save me!” and all would be forgiven if he kept bashing gays. Not sure about providing the services though, I actually think that is a new one.

If I had any balls, I'd run for office against one of these "family values" types. My whole platform would be "anyone that homophobic has to be gay."
Not that I'd have any shot of being elected. But then I'm only in it for the fun. I don't really want the job.

I don't understand why the Pennsylvania Democrat didn't have billboards that read "Stop Rick Santorum's gay agenda".

Are Florida legislators that badly paid?
The poor man, driven to such a state.

I thought he was born there.

Great news, especially on a Friday.
Perhaps now Bob Allen can propose a "leather day" or "trans gender dress up day" for the house, since he has been duly "outed"
