Well, the number of the SkepticWiki (http://www.skepticwiki.org/index.php/Main_Page) is five hundred and fifty-five --- I've just posted the 555th article (Symbiosis).

I remember thinking, when the SkepticWiki was founded, that it would be about adequate when it had five hundred articles. I was wrong. The reason for this is that some areas have received a lot of attention, and are excellent, whereas others have gotten little attention, and are sub-standard. Traditional skeptic themes such as UFOs get little coverage, creationists get lots, and so the content of the SkepticWiki is unbalanced.

I'd like to appeal to all of you to help redress the balance. Instead of fighting ignorance one woo at a time, on ephemeral forum threads, please help build up this permanent skeptical resource, which will be read by many people who are not complete idiots. For those of you who haven't tried it, the experience of educating thousands of people is most gratifying.

I was hoping you could help me - is there a trick to getting an account on this wiki? The login/create account page doesn't seem to actually create accounts.

I have some stuff on patents and skepticism that I thought might be a good contribution, so if you can help me get registered, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

You have to email Ducky (the Head Honcho) for an account. This is to keep out electronic spam and to make sure that you're an actual human being.

Email:

skepticwiki AT gmail DOT com

where " AT " means @ and " DOT " means .

(This way of giving email addresses is also to avoid spam.)
