And for whoever asked, Gene is 100% serious. In fact, while I normally HATE when people use the "110%" BS line to describe someone's level of devotion, Gene Ray is so over the top that I'd forgive it. I've never managed to see him in person, but there were some videos of a presentation he gave (Georgia Tech?) and you cannot watch him and conclude that he is anything but absolutely on the level about .... whatever it is he's going on about. He's managed to build a bit of a fanclub in university circles. Technical types memorize his theories and spout them like Monty Python lines. Ignorance of these theories is unforgivable.

Supposedly, Gene is a nice enough guy. He is, as you might imagine, a bit high strung and passionate about his theories, and he doesn't seem to be mentally unbalanced, except when he's going on about his theories.
