He said that the campaign would target women who were badly veiled, wore overly tight overcoats, sported excessively short trousers and were "dressed like models."

Badly veiled models with overly tight overcoats. Jesus, what does their Sears catalogs look like?!

Burqa babes 'R Us.

The article raises a troubling question:

Why does Iran hate homosexuals?

You think I am kidding? Look at this repression!

Umm... I'd think the executions for homosexual conduct would be more of a giveaway than closing down hairdressers shops...

Well, yeah, there is that, but I was trying to keep it light.

Failed.

"Some young people, intentionally or unwittingly, are walking advertisements for Western deviant sexual and Satan-worshipping cults. In this plan such people will be identified and confronted."

Man, they really are uptight.

I guess if your crime rate is near zero you might as well start hassling people for how they dress.

We are lucky here with or North American crime rates we can wear anything we want.

Now if this post had said:

"Iran launches nuclear strike on west!"

Now there's something worth a biscuit!

Are you claiming that the crime rate in Iran is "near zero"? And if so, can you point to any evidence?

Well it has to be. No one in their right mind would crack down on haircuts if there was real crime to be investigated.

Surprisingly crime rates in most Gulf and Middle East nations are lower than in the West (though it certainly wouldn't be near-zero).

The US Overseas Security Advisory Council (www.osac.gov) does crime and safety reports for most countries for the benefit of US citizens. Unfortuneately, but not surprisingly, the general Crime & Safety report for Iran has been bumped off the page for more relevant advisories about US citizens not travelling to Iran due to the current US/Iran political situation. If you look at their Crime and Safety reports for other Middle East countries however, OSAC rates them as 'low'. I suspect the same applies to Iran. (why the crime rates would be low in Iran is another matter entirely)

How backwards of them! Everybody knows the proper level of exposure of women's body, as permitted by us superior men, is that the nipples and kootch should be covered. Anything more is oppressive. Anything less insults God and the dignity of women and steps on our proper ownership of a woman's body.
