An autistic 8-year-old boy died while wrapped in sheets during a prayer service held to exorcise the evil spirits that church members blamed for his condition.

I'd be interested in finding out the results of the autopsy. If the kid was smothered, I think Hemphill and anyone else who participated should thrown into jail for manslaughter.

According to the Chicago Tribune today (08/26) the autopsy ruled asphyxiation, and the death is now a homicide, however the Prosecutor's office has decided to wait on criminal charges.

What does that mean, wait on criminal charges?

It means they have to see if they can get around various 'freedom of religion' laws that specifically include allowing parents to use prayer rather than real medical help.
Similar to one of the reasons Cardinal Law is not in jail as he should be. Laws ment to protect 'confession' giving priests the loophole of they don't have to report crimes.
