Okay, so here's the story. Some n00b named "Dude Bob" joined Pilots for Truth looking for a debate. From what I can gather, he posted something on "The PentaCON" thread there. I have no idea what since JDX deleted his post, and gave an extremely vague reason for doing so. Anyway, he wasn't too happy about having his post deleted so he made this thread:
*WARNING: Harry Potter spoilers are in this link*
http://z9.invisionfree.com/Pilots_For_Truth/index.php?showtopic=8172
Somewhere in his posts, he creates a link labeled "death threats". The link has the domain "governmentloyalistsite.org". Clicking on it takes you to a blank page.
I thought at first it was just an error, maybe he screwed up and made a bad link. But after just a few more seconds of browsing P4T I come across this thread:
http://z9.invisionfree.com/Pilots_For_Truth/index.php?showtopic=7948
Suspicious? Extremely. So I scoured JREF to figure out what Dude Bob could possibly be talking about when he writes about "death threats". This is what I found:
http://forums.randi.org/showthread.php?t=78545
I can't be 100% certain, of course. But it is my contention that P4T forums have some way of manipulating hyperlinks so that when the domain "randi.org" is detected, it is changed to "governmentloyalistsite.org".
Some "truth seekers", indeed.
Not that I condone Dude Bob's trolling (he's plastered Harry Potter spoilers all over P4T), but, Jesus [rule8]ing Christ!
I think we should wear the label "government loyalist site" as a symbol of pride, the same way the term "Yankee" was originally used as in insult but came to be a term of pride for the very people it was used against.
LONG LIVE THE GOVERNMENT LOYALIST SITE!

Many forums packages have the ability to convert censored words to custom text strings rather than just asteriks or [censored]
ETA: I used to run some forums that refered to a mythical "Forum Cartel" and I had the autocensor convert the words forum cartel to [Nothing to see here, please move along]

Um...shouldn't we be loyal to the government that is paying us to take part in this forum?
The NSA provides me with $250 a month to debunk and ridicule 9-11 Truthers. I think I should be loyal to the NSA and the United States governmant for that...don't you?

So what about people in Australia who have voted against the Howard government every chance they get? Does that make them loyal to Bush?
Oh that's right Robbie thinks we aren't entitled to an opinion on 9/11. I spose that goes for all those Scots and Poms and Welsh and Germans and Canadians and Dutch and Finns and whoever else that post here.
Im am so sick of Truthers and their black and white view of the world.

Yeah, "Yankees" was a Dutch insult about New Yorkers. It meant "John Cheese." I have no idea why the Dutch would believe a New Yorker would be insulted by being called John Cheese but, come to think of it, I have no idea why the Dutch do most of the things they do.

This is why I love this place. "Yankees" was a word that I had often wondered about, but I had never bothered to look it up. Now a lawyer from NYC posts a few lines and one of life's minor mysteries is solved.
Now can anyone tell me why John Cheese had the surname Doodle?
Why he rode a pony into town and why he would call a feather macaroni?

Thanks for the idea. I recall this from some time ago. Be sure to click on the accessory links too.

Yeah, the two things arose 200 years apart. First, New Yorkers came to be known as Yankees through a long association of events. Almost two centuries later, the English considered Americans to be low class, uneducated hillbillies who had no concept of taste or culture. At the time, and for reasons I cannot fathom, a popular hairstyle among the upper class in England was called "Macaroni."
So, the English made up a very dry song about an American who is so backwards that when he finally gets to a cultured part of the world, he thinks putting a feather in his hair is the same as having a Macaroni.
It's a stupid story. Sadly, it's true.
In modern terms, I guess it would be like a teenage girl from Arkasnsas putting a bown on her head, cutting off all the excess hair and telling everyone she got the Rachel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%22Rachel%22_haircut).
