View Full Version : The American Truth Bad Writing Contest

Some truther wrote a fictional novel unveiling the "facts" behind 9/11. It is like one of those bad writing contests. Some excrutiating excerpts:

http://www.amtruth.com/

He tucked the knife into his pocket and again sprinted tothe exit. He ran into Robert Montgomery, his good friend who frequently collaborated with him on completing the Pentagon’smedia reports.

Robert began sniffing. “You smell that?”

“Yeah, what is it?” said Nathan, as he nearly tripped byrunning too fast down the stairs.

“Cordite.”

“Cordite? The stuff in explosives?”

“I’d know that smell anywhere--we used it in our explosivesin the Gulf.”

“You visited several objectionable websites from your
office--sites that debase government authority. Who gave you
the orders to visit these sites?”

Nathan never knew someone within the Pentagon could be
monitoring his computer. “I’m a writer. I do research,” he said,
trying to shown no sign of alarm.

Iraq has the second largest oil reserves in the
world. Afghanistan has a key oil pipeline that would
give the U.S. a hand in the world’s oil distribution.

Nathan’s head turned upon hearing the name he recognized.
“The FBI agent, right? The one who was an al-Qaeda expert.”

“If anyone knew al-Qaeda’s involvement in 9/11--it
would’ve been him. But because he knew too much, he was
fired from the FBI. He was ordered to start a new job with
WTC security on the day before 9/11. Conveniently, he died in
the South Tower during the attacks.”

Yeah, sounds reasonable.

Well how could you not like this book after reading this endorsement:

"We urgently need Christian activists to bear witness to 9/11 truth. And we need to get 9/11 truth into popular culture. Nick Shelton's The American Truth meets those needs and then some. Gripping reading -- I read it straight through, cover to cover."

I personally enjoyed this bit:

As soon as he got home, Nathan wasted no time to check his
email. Sure enough, a new message awaited him.

Subject: The Political Agendas of 9/11
From: DL@AmTruth.com
To: T.Ruth@AmTruth.com
Date: 9/13/06 T.Ruth,
Look these up:
- Search Wikipedia.org for “PNAC”
These are major contributors to 9/11. They had the
power and knowledge to plan the attacks.
- Google: Operation Northwoods
See if you can find the connection between this
military plan and 9/11.
- Search Wikipedia for “One World Government”
See if you find any connections with the other two.
This will give you some background on the neocon
agenda and one of the main reasons for 9/11.
Sincerely, D L

LOL PNAC & Northwoods.

"We urgently need Christian activists to bear witness to 9/11 truth."

Hey, at least they're admitting it's a belief system.

Dear Lord, 9/11 fanfic. I don't even know what to say. Ironic that, for a first post.

That is what Loose Change started out as being. Still is, although the creators have been caught up in their own woo.

You notice how in their dreamworld, looking at Troofer websites requires courage, rather than mere tolerance for bad font choices.

Speaking as a writer, I find this piece of fiction to be a joke..

- Poor use of metaphors ("The building rumbled as if it were experiencing an
earthquake.")

- Mary-Sue character. I don't understand how a writer can stand to create a "perfect character". It's so boring to write one!

- No "show and not tell" aspect of storytelling. If you want the reader to use their imagination and interact with the book, you don't tell them every piece of info with large amounts of detail. Be a bit vague to let the reader use their head for a bit. (EXAMPLE: At 38, the former naval officer was in excellent
shape. That, combined with his willpower, helped him stay on
his feet while others around him hit the floor.)

- Horrible pacing. There is hardly any plot development or character development. His minor characters serve no purpose unless it is further the plot; absolutely no personality is put into his minor characters or even his main man, Nathan. Any action or conflict introduced is somehow resolved within the same sentence.

It's ****. It almost makes me want to rewrite the storyline to make it remotely interesting.

I can't post links yet, but thought y'all might like to know that you can review this fine piece of literature over at Amazon (there's a link on his blog), where it currently has 43 reviews, 42 of which give it five stars (and 42 of which were written between July 18-and July 21...the 20th was a particularly popular reading day).

Methinks somebody's been busy making accts at Amazon.

That is why I quoted this. When you log on to every government office computer in the world it has the "This computer may be monitored" warning.

Ok, here is another bad one:

“A lie repeated a thousand times becomes a truth.” - Joseph Goebbels

It seems the truthers have more in common with the NWO than they would like to admit.
