View Full Version : Truth Movement Recap, Year 2007

What has happened in the truth movement circles in 2007? I started thinking, what have they achieved this year. These things came to mind rather quickly.
Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth is founded by Richard Gage.
David Shayler goes 'God'.
Rosie O'Donnell goes truther.
Killtown and Loose Change part ways.
Fetzer goes no planes at WTC.
Griffin goes airphones, no airphones, airphones and releases the book Debunking 9/11 Debunking.
Nobody debates Mark Roberts.
Truther rallies on 11th of every month with participation numbers in single digits.
Loose Change Forum goes anti-no planes. Two camps are formed. Loose Changers and No Planers.
We Are Change confronts every other person you could think of.
Nobody still debates Mark Roberts.
Loose Change Final Cut postponed.
Mark Cuban backs away from Loose Change
Charlie Sheen backs away from Loose Change.
Greatest anticipation: The History Channel hit piece
Biggest question mark: What's up with Final Cut.
Greatest excuses of the year: I, (insert name) will not debate Mark Roberts, because (insert excuse). Conclusion: Not much happening this year.

If anything, the truth movement is in a decline, with people paying less attention than ever before.

I've got to hand it to that "Nobody" person. He had the balls to debate Gravy not once, but twice!
BTW, you only mentioned "Loose Change Final Cut postponed" once.

I was in a good mood :D
It seems to me, that this year many have gone really fringe, and the movement is more divided than ever before. For example, people are dissing Fetzer like crazy, Killtown and LC are fighting like this thread (http://z10.invisionfree.com/Loose_Change_Forum/index.php?showtopic=13342)reveals, Mark Dice says media scripting theories are crazy (he is of course right, but gets almost no support), some even question Alex Jones more and more.

What about Willy Rodriguez taking his show on the road through Europe?
Kevin Barret's abortive "How I met your martyr" trip to Morrocco?
Korey Rowe, back to basic?

That thread is insane. It sounds like everybody in the truth movement has their own forum! That would at least explain the almost zero activity on all of them.

Kevin Barret's abortive "How I met your martyr" trip to Morrocco?
Is that one new or straight from the Brain of Brainache, cause it is the teh funny.
A few others.
-Irish TV "pulls" loose change after JREF forum members point out the occasaional factual inaccuracy in it.
-The BBC air an informative piece on loose change and even manage to politely correct Dylan on the linguistic concept of a "similie". The expression on Dylan's face was worth my licence fee for the year alone!

Poor me, I'm so senile. Thanks Brainache and Dog Town.
Uncle Fetzer does debate Mark Roberts, with foreseeable results.
Korey rowe desertion news.
Kevin Barrett goes to Morocco to find ghosts.
William Rodriguez does more magic, as he flies to Europe despite being on a no fly list, and avoiding answering any questions.Good ones there, 8den.

Man, these are like the least exciting news ever. Was the EMT Mike episode this year?
ETA: I got one more! Truth Movements gets a kick out of Apollo20 aka Frank Greening posts in this forum, claiming he owns us or something.

I used it in one of the original Barret threads, but I am a firm believer in recycling jokes everytime we get enough new posters.
Here's another one:
The problem with these CTs, globally speaking, is that they leave out the UN.

I agree.
2006 was the peak of the truth movement. Since then, interest and support seems to be dwindling.
When (if) Loose Change Final Cut comes out, expect a surge of rookies to climb on board. However, this little injection of activity shall be short lived.
By 2009, I imagine only the hardcore truthers will stick around. Still arguing that a missile stuck the Pentagon.

Was this supposed to be their big year? No trials, no empeachments, no evidence presented to the authorities, no major movies, no major truth rallies, no significant new members (I don't think Rosie and Gage qualify), still no experts.

Does the Pentacon qualify for the truth movements calender? I mean, it (unwittingly) gives even more ammunition for the debunkers.

Charlie Sheen backs away from Loose Change.
I didn't know about that. Did Charlie Sheen back out of doing the LC narration and avoid committing career suicide?

He hasn't backed out completely, as far as i know.
He originally was onboard, as far as i can tell.
However, now he states that he is going to wait and reserve judgement as to whether he will indeed play the role of narrator for the upcoming Loose Change.
Having 'serious doubts' is probably accurate.

Which mean whatever steaming pile Dylan Avery is going to show in NYC in September won't have Sheen as the narrator. Charlie Sheen is currently the highest paid actor on television, why take even ten minutes out of your day for this nonsense.
On the other hand, as has been pointed out, he'd rather have sex with skanky whores than with Denise Richards, so there's alot to be said for his taste.

No one goes to jail. Except Korey Rowe. And Chris Bollyn. Scratch that, Chris didn't actually go, he's on the run. Still, 0 convictions of anyone in the government due to the activities of the Truth movement.

Kevin Barrett's urging of people to harrass professors of The Purdue University and publishing their photos with contact information. That must be one of the low points of the year. Do you think they are proud of what they are doing?

About 1 month from the supposed "release date" and the narration still isn't done? I wonder if LCFC is just going to be one of those things that never gets done, but used more as a way to defend the current LC. "We'll fix that in the final version"

Rumors of the Truth Movement's demise are overblown. First of all, Rosie exposed a whole new demographic to 9-11 crackpottery, and now all of a sudden we're seeing a lot of women in the movement. Cindy Sheehan made it reasonably acceptable in the peace movement camp. As the Impeach Bush movement runs up against a wall with the Democrats in Congress, they may increasingly turn to the "Hail Mary" pass of 9-11 Denial.
I always go back to the simple metrics. In June and July of last year combined, 269,625 people visited 9-11 Blogger. In June and July of this year, 469,680 visited 9-11 Blogger. That's a 74% increase.
Our work is far from done.

It's good to be cautious and our job is not done. Those 9/11 Blogger figures are always interesting. But I wonder how many debunkers lurk there. For example, I browse that page several times a day, just to keep in touch with their stuff. I didn't do that a year ago.
But we need to keep doing our work, as before.

I have yet to meet a truther in person (lucky me) or see so much as a poster, but I do know several people that like to lurk and laugh at the CTers. It's almost like a national inquirer of sorts. I would myself love to know how many actual warm bodies there are but I suspect the numbers are relatively small. Atleast the hardcore (active) ones.

What are you afraid of? - If they are wrong or deluded , so what ?
In your daily life, do you make a habit of telling anyone you see how ugly/fat/ weird/stupid/wrong they are?
If the 'truthers' are mistaken, they will be seen for what they are, and ignored, no?
Maybe you are afraid people will not see the truth without your help?

Is the Pentacon worth mentioning? It seems like it has >1% of the sales/views of LC. I know several activists that actually organized conferences and pushed LC. I don't know anyone that has bought Pentacon.

I don't think a large percentage of the people visiting 9-11 Blogger are debunkers or lurkers/laughers. However, I do agree that the really active Deniers are not a substantial number. Webster Tarpley said a month or so ago that there are 25,000 9-11 activists, at most, and I think that's a generous estimate. The local group doesn't amount to more than 10 or so in a city of four million, and they are very inactive at present (http://911truthaz.org/911truthaz/index.php?page=events).

He's not selling enough books and dvds; his truck needs new brakes; his computer is on its last legs; he isn't getting enough support from the twoof movement; his day job isn't going very well; he can't afford to pay for the next batch of his "manifesto"; and he's missing church.

LOL to you, my friend. It's always good to have opposing powers. If there were no debunkers, all we would see would be Loose Change, 9/11 Mysteries and a couple of government reports. I think debunkers have a role in all this. Otherwise stupid lies would go on and on unchecked and take a life of their own. At least now, people can see if there is another explanation to all these 'CT coincidences and anomalies'. I'm sorry, if you don't understand my point.

Fringe GOP Candidate Ron Paul decided that the Truthers are too fringe even for him.
Though If Paul, when he fails to get the GOP nod ,decides to go the Indepdent candidate route look for a reconciliation.
