I'm watching Headline News right now and apparently Mayor Bloomberg may prevent the families from entering Ground Zero this year, due to the new construction that is now underway in the site. Apparently it may not be as safe any longer. I'm curious to know what everyone thinks of this move; the individual they were interviewing lost a son in Ground Zero that day and he wants access to remain for the families. What do you all think?

I have no idea why you think this is part of a conspiracy.
I also have no idea why you would think it is a good idea to let untrained, unessential people wander around an active constrction site.
The job is dangerous enough without having people appear unexpectedly, say, under a crane load, in front of a truck, whatever.
Ssheesh!

I'm kinda partial to both sides. On the family side, yes, let them go to the site, and ONLY them. But for the construction side, they have work to do, and hard hats for the masses is out of the question.

A compromise - have a section for family members only that would not impede the workers.

Erm... I didn't say it was part of a conspiracy... I just mentioned it because it caught my attention on the news. Perhaps I should have been more clear; I was wondering what everyone thought of it due to the emotional attachment many victim's families have to the site and what they thought of Mayor Bloomberg potentially denying the families access to what is essentially their family member's gravesite. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you haven't noticed this is a conspiracy subforum.

Moved to Politics and Current Events for obvious reasons. :)

What I think of it?

If it isn't safe, it isn't safe. I don't mean to be callous at all--not at all--but there's no good reason whatsoever to put yourself or someone else at risk of harm, just so you can mourn at a specific place.

There's much more I would say, but it would make me look like an unfeeling jerk, when that's not how I feel at all, so I shall refrain.
