Below is an excerpt from an email I received today, wherein the sender describes a personal experience regarding an event called "Dodgers Faith Day," and an alleged attempt by the Dodgers organization to weasel out of their contractural obligations. Please read...
I just got out of a meeting at my work and heard some pretty sad news regarding an event we are promoting called Dodgers Faith Day on August 19, 2007.
We've been pushing this event real hard and were really excited to have this opportunity to promote our first sports event for the Christian community. This event is also being used by many churches and youth groups as an outreach to friends, families, strangers, anyone and everyone who do not know Christ. Even cooler, the Dodgers would also be backing this event by promoting it on the big screens during games, putting it in programs and calling churches and other group sales buyers and informing them about Faith Day.
Sadly to say, USA caught wind of the Dodgers Faith Day and decided to question the event. They called the Dodgers and asked them how they would feel about the muslim community feeling left out of the event. The Dodgers freaked out and said they want nothing to do with Faith Day anymore, but cannot back out of their agreement because they have a contract between us and Third Coast Sports (our fellow Christians and co-promoter of this event). The Dodgers are basically acting like there isn't even going to be a Faith Day on August 19, 2007. They won't promote it, they won't do any group sales calls, they won't put it on the big screens, they won't put it in the programs. They want to act like it doesn't exist! They won't even give us tickets to giveaway to radio stations, they won't even feed the Christian band (Hawk Nelson) that are playing the event, they won't even give our company tickets to attend the event. We have to buy tickets to giveaway to radio stations (FULL PRICE) and buy ourselves tickets to attend the event to make sure it is running smoothly. They are trying to make it as hard as possible for us to promote Faith Day.
The rest of the email expresses the writer's dismay and presents a plea for support.
I have contacted Third Coast Sports and found out that (1) they are a real organization, (2) Dodger Faith Day is a real event as advertised on their website, and (3) the sender of this email is a real person (at least, the people I talked to at TCS said her name sounded familiar).
Personally, I am curious to verify the rest of this story as true or false.
The Los Angeles Dodger website shows ONLY the following info for August 19, 2007:
Date: Sunday, August 19
