A blackout has hit London during the evening rush hour, 2 weeks to the day that a similar (but much larger) blackout hit the U.S. eastern seaboard, at about the same time - evening rush hour.

How long will it be before we see the terrorist/conspiracy theories flying? I give it 2 days, tops.

I would favor 2 seconds.

I don't have good access to usenet, but I bet somebody out there was posting about it as soon as they got the news.

I'm just waiting to see how jj's going to manage to blame this one on deregulation...

And I am sure he is waiting for you to blame it on government regulation, preferably with some claim that they are killing our children or something.

Shanek and jj, if you ask me, it was a simple mistake of failure somewhere. But I wouldn't argue for any deregulation or regulation because the problem was solved in 40 minutes!

Electricity was cut for about 40 minutes before it came back on at about 7 p.m., said EDF Energy, which handles some power transmission for London.

But back on the main topic, I blame Bush's foreign policy on this one.

I fully agree that it cannot be warped into a positive argument for deregulation.

But back on the main topic, I blame Bush's foreign policy on this one.
