Validating Internet Sites

The Internet is perhaps the last bastion of mass communication freedom. This means it is up to the viewer to sort out whether sites are valid or not.
I recently received the following link from a friend with the note:
"this seems to be real"

The site is hillariously funny, but certainly at first glance it could also be real. It even has a Kitsch Christian shop selling items that might appeal both to Fundamentalist Christians and their detractors.

So how apart from making a value judgement can we decide on whether it was put up by a fundamentalist group or someone making fun of fundamentalists?

The only solution I could come up with was to check the links going INTO the site. (Can be done on google). Anyone have any other ideas?

Another way to check whether it's real is to check sources, find out if "Dr. Richard Paley" really exists and has the credentials claimed (a couple of phone calls should be able to verify that).

I think it has been determined to be a parody.. I'll try to find a link of the thread here, in which this was pretty much agreed upon..

If you follow the link to " ZOUNDS" the ' youth rock ministry ', you will see that you cannot actually buy any any of their CD's for various ( nebulous reasons ).. This is proof to me that it is a parody, since no music group that has actually produced a CD would make it so difficult to purchase one...;)
