How do you defame the legacy of Superstar Billy Graham by posting this.
"I'm the reflection of perfection, the number one selection."

I don't think Graham pushed hate like so many preachers these days. I don't agree with his religious views but at least he wasn't out there pushing hate of others! It is actually refreshing if you think about it.

Out of curiosity, I just did a Google search of "billy graham accomplishments". A quick glance of the first 10 or 20 relevant hits showed, Billy Graham did 2 things. He built his empire and self-promoted at events and famous dead people's funerals.

Graham was on the wrong side of one of the great issues in American history. Graham was for segregation and opposed to Civil Rights. He subsequently repented, as it were, and spent a great deal of time seeking to redeem himself for the error...I just wonder why it was obvious, given his communication with God, and all.

Yeah, he's best known for spreading the word in person to millions of people world-wide over many decades. Uh, so what? He's also well known for being close personal spiritual advisor to a long succession of presidents. He's the court shaman of the USA for the 2nd half of the 20th century.
I agree with Dumbledoor that he didn't preach hate like so many others (other than that pesky segregation thing), and so there's not that reason to revile him. But he's not a great saint in my eyes either. He's just a politically connected and highly successful religion entrepenuer.

I'm not sure not being a complete jackass is a praiseworthy accomplishment, regardless of how many others around him can't seem to manage it.

Maybe the Being on the other end of his Great Telephone is not actually God. Someone else.

Didn't Billy Graham visit President Nixon in the Oval Office and state that Jews were a pervasive threat to America or something like that? I seem to recall this from when the Nixon office tapes were revealed. I also recall President Nixon made disparaging remarks regarding Prime Minister Trudeau. I could be misremembering however.

And then he goes and says something like this. What an ass.
I'm getting a little depressed about Iraq... Think of what it is doing to Bush. There doesn’t seem to be any way out.

I was merely commenting not preaching hate of others is refreshing considering other fundie Christan religious leaders currently. I did not know about the segregation bit though, see learning all the time!;)

I can't believe the editors didn't catch that photo. You almost have to wonder if the Time editors didn't do it just for the controversial publicity it is sure to gain in this culture of CT and devil believers. I had to actually check it on the Time website (http://www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,1101070820,00.html) to make sure it wasn't photoshopped or something. (Hint: close the ad, upper right hand corner if the link goes there before the cover image page.)
