Had I read this on the internet , I might have thought it woo, but it seems it may be the way forward for chip cooling.

"Researchers have created a small wind engine that could keep chips in PCs and laptops significantly cooler than traditional fans. The 'ionic wind engine' gives air molecules a positive charge by passing them between electrodes placed closely together. These positive ions are then attracted to the negative electrodes, causing a tiny turbulence that counters what is known as the non-slip problem of conventional air cooling.
