Has this been debunked here yet?

http://www.podcastplayhouse.net/blog/2007/08/26/70/Your-Daily-Dose-of-Strange.html

the co-ordinates are listed for anyone to verify or check. this is up on digg right now and thought JREF Forum would probably have heard about it by now. Any scoop?

I don't see what there is to debunk. Some of it is crop circles, some of it is digital artifacts and other stuff they've forgotten to remove, and some of it is regular stuff like the UFO, which is obviously some sort of installment. What did I win:)?

All I saw was misregistrations of images and a few registration marks. Did I miss a giant face or something?

Actually, Google has resolved a long-standing controversy. Go to http://moon.google.com/ and see the map of the moon. Zoom all the way in.

Controversy solved.:D

Heh heh heh...yeah, the GoogleGeeks appear to have a sense of humor, at least as dry as a popcorn flatulation. For example, ask google maps for a route from Chicago to Liverpool UK. They'll give you an accurate route, albeit a wet one...

That long, straight highway-looking thing is easy to debunk. No billboards, no food courts, not even a South of the Border! Who builds roads like that?

ooohoooh... South of the Border. I desperatly hope you're not talking about this one:

8245

That place is paranormal.

Definitely. I mean, why would a flamingo hang out in a parking lot?

We don't let 'em in the house around these parts. It's the dancing, you see.

The first one, the "UFO" is at 45°42'11.97"N 21°18'7.14"E

The first two coordinates at least, don't point to anything on the video.

Looked at the first one. Saw what looked like a round object. It is about 15 meters in diameter. You need to zoom in to see it. This is a big small for anything to fly from outer space. Or to be easily visible by the naked eye from a kilometre away as anything other than a dot.

We don't have any Bulgarians here, do we?

It would just be a nice touch for someone living locally to take a photo from ground level. It's clearly a building related to the farms and buildings nearby and look as though it's about 2-3m high, with a dome on top of probably another 3-4m, going by shadow length compared to the house.

Checked them all. Most of them, especially the cluster from around 40°N 93°E, come under the heading "Disused military airstrip, yawn."

This one just kills me:

89°59'59.98"N,56°59'43.67"W

But they don't use this one:

89°59'59.98"S 148°24'55.52"E

There was nothing interesting in the first lot. I cannot see why anyone would bother to look at any more that are produced.

We sometimes leave our recycling bins in a triangular formation. Will this make the third edition?

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that there are people making certain kinds of marks on the ground or building fences or whatever in weird shapes for the express purpose of appearing on Google Earth. I have considered painting "Hello, Google Earth" on my roof to see if it shows up in the next fly-over. (I only lived in my present house a few years before the photography clearly showed one of my own vehicles parked in the driveway.) But I'm not sure I want thousands of Google-geeks around the world bookmarking my house. :boxedin:

Don't know about the first item (the triangle).
The second (six pointed star) is an SA-2 site. From it's location I would assume a simulated site for threat training.
The third (green circles) are irrigated patches in the desert. The irrigation is provided by a long arm with a pivot at the center of the circle, spray bars along the rod and a wheeled carriage at the end. You'll find them all over the US South West, Australia and the Middle East.
The final one appears to be hedges. The explanation can probably be found by asking the topiarist.

First one is in the Nevada desert, as far as I can see. Which would suggest it's a practice bombing range target. Or maybe an old nuclear, sorry, nucular test site.

Could you imagine some poor soul marooned somewhere arduously spelling out HELP only to be ignored by a bunch of skeptics? Who says life isn't fair?

Happy Birthday, by the way!

What I find strange is that if you look at my village on Google Earth, most of it is crystal clear but the end of my road, including my house, is covered by some kind of nebulous whitish material that appears to be suspended in the sky somehow. I can only postulate that it's some kind of ectoplasm, or else the result of an electronic blocking field set up by the CIA to prevent accurate photos from being taken.

Very eerie. Very eerie indeed. Perhaps you should consult with Sylvia Browne.
