I just saw "The 1th Hour" last night. Its about global warming and the environment. One of the things that I thought about as I watched this is how 9-11 Deniers and other conspiracy theorists seem to hate the environmental movemant so very much.
Many of them argue that global warming is a myth. Its all perpetrated to hurt capitalism and stop the economy.
But what about water pollution, de-forestation, top soil loss, air quality?..are these all part of a communist conspiracy too?
How can the conspiracy theorists claim to be against the "NWO corporations"..but be pro Exxon-Mobil, Monsanto, etc etc?
Are they really shills for the big fossil fuel companies?
:D

Considering here at NWO headquarters we destroy one rainforest to make every sixth desk you'd think they'd start noticing the common enemy at some point.

Well yeah. All the executive offices have those, along with the baby seal and blue whaleskin chairs and air fresheners made out of the ozone layer...
...but your secretary's isn't. ;)

You know, it's funny: I was just thinking about this myself.
Personally I am skeptical of the idea of catastrophic human-caused global warming, but I highly doubt the entire theory was invented as part of some vast NWO conspiracy.
It reminds me of Perry Logan's "What's NOT a government plot?" video.

To be fair, a lot of militant lefties have jumped on the Global Warming Bandwagon and are using it as a stick to beat up the Free Market System.
I feel that allowing themeselves to be labelled as a "left wing" movement has hurt the Enviormental movement and cost it a lot of support by people who are not opposed to defending the enviorment, but are opposed to massive Government.

Very true. In the same way I would never consider myself an "anti-smoker" even though I finally successfully quit, I refuse to join the chorus of global warming advocates despite some valid arguments simply because I steadfastly refuse to associate with the jerk-offs that are associated with their movements.

Regardless of the so-called debate about Global Warming, the fact is that deforestation, air pollution, water pollution, topsoil loss, species extinction, are indeed BEYOND doubt and indeed happening. There is only one group of people who wants us to NOT clean up the environment..to NOT stop pollution...to NOT use alternative fuels and get rid of our dependancy on foreign oil...and that is the Big Oil Industry.
So when anyone is against cleaning up the environment, against stopping pollution, against converting to alternative energy sources...they are basically saying "I love Big Energy Corporations!!!!"
Alex Jones is a de-facto shill for Exxon-Mobil.

If that is so, why do they continue to spend huge amounts of money on the development and production of cleaner burning fuels, and why are they pumping huge amounts of money into researching and developing alternative fuels such as ethanol and hydrogen?
eta: Oh, I'd point out that our company has a fleet of hybrids as the company vehicles too...

and in my opinion are all far more important issues that are hidden by the Global warming issues. The company I'm a contractor for takes each of these issues very seriously donating money towards the recreation of habitats, seashore tussoks and the reforesting of land over here. We have regular working days were we head out to do things such as beach clean ups or helping to plant trees of plants. Guys out on the rigs and tugs are charged with helping DOC (department of conservation) with sea mamal counts and the enviroment about the lower structureof the rigs is constantly monitored to make sure that the sea life is unaffected by the rigs operation (in fact the presence of the rig seems to have increased the sea life about it as it has formed a sort of artifical reef. Blaming Big Oil just because they are big oil is like blaming Bush because he's Bush. try getting some facts first.

Huge in what context — dollar amounts? Percentage of corporate R&D expenditures? Percentage of corporate revenue? Percentage of corporate profits? How much do these expenditures vary per company? Are some doing better than others? How do their expenditures, either individually or as an aggregate, compare to other industries individually or as an aggregate?
Both the original claim and your response to it lack the kind of detail which are referenced above in my comments and which would be most beneficial in really understanding what is going on in terms of corporate response.
