Please read this BBC article (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/6967679.stm)

I am NOT saying I agree with Ms. Ardant.
My question is:
If it is illegal to to praise someone who has committed a crime in Italy, then why is it legal to speak highly of the Pope and Church?

Surely the pedophile issues would be condisdered a crime. The Pope is ultimately responsible for the crimes since he allows the cover up. I understand Vatican City is a different country; however, there are churches in Italy.

Is it because the Pope and/or Church has never been convicted? There have been priests who have been convicted.

What about people who still think highly the leaders of the Juventus soccer club?

Is this a poor argument, or it is a valid point?

Surely the pedophile issues would be condisdered a crime. yes they are

The Pope is ultimately responsible for the crimes since he allows the cover up. Morally, perhaps, legally? Until he is convicted (and he hasn't even been charged) he is presumed innocent. I doubt that there is a convincing legal case to make against him.

Is it because the Pope and/or Church has never been convicted? yes, although I'm not quiet sure how you can convict a church.

There have been priests who have been convicted. and it would be illegal to praise them.

When I say Church, I mean the uppermost leaders who run the organization.

When I say Church, I mean the uppermost leaders who run the organization.
And when I say Church, it means everyone in it, rather the way it is defined in the Scriptures.

As to your broken logic, already covered by previous poster.

I note your deep pockets approach to wrongdoing.
