I found this item (http://klmartin.wordpress.com/2007/09/02/juanita-bynum-attacked-by-bishop-thomas-weeks-news-reports/) about Bishop Weeks (http://www.bishopweeks.com/) beating his wife. The Post-Chronicle story here (http://www.postchronicle.com/cgi-bin/artman/exec/view.cgi?archive=28&num=99229). A follow up story here (http://www.gospelcity.com/news/headlines/1235).
Sorry if this has been posted already.

"Weeks blamed the devil for the accusation that has him facing two felony charges."
Ahh! So, he's innocent then!

Bynum said in a statement to police that Weeks "choked her, pushed her down, kicked her and stomped her in the Renaissance parking lot."Ouch. I've never heard that euphemism before, but I sure hope her Renaissance parking lot wasn't injured too badly.
(Sorry)

I have a difficult time finding humor in domestic violence. I consider this a sad story, as I do any such story. Her books are very popular, and while I disagree with her outlook, I wouldn't wish this on anyone.

Perhaps he had been reading the Quran:
4:34 Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.

Maybe he needs to read Baha'i' writings:
And among the teachings of His Holiness Bahá'u'lláh is the equality of women and men. The world of humanity has two wings-- one is woman and the other man. Not until both wings are equally developed can the bird fly. Should one wing remain weak, flight is impossible. Not until the world of woman becomes equal to the world of man in the acquisition of virtues and perfections, can success and prosperity be attained as they ought to be.

The same, only less hypocritical about it.

I've heard of Juanita Bynum and I heard a few minutes of her program for the first time last night when I was scanning the channels. I heard her tell her guest and audience that she had forgiven her husband although I hadn't heard about this story so I had no idea what she was forgiving him for when she said it.

Did you hear they are turning GM Place (Home of the Vancouver Canucks) into a shelter for battered women?
Yeah, apparently, the Canucks won't beat anyone this year!
:D :D :D
(Sorry but it seemed like a challenge.)
