For the past 3 or 4 days, I have been trying to update windows. I will get everything downloaded and installed but then I get an error messages. I clicked on the link for help but it doesn't help me at all.
It says:
Failed: 1 update
Error(s) found:
Code 800736CC
Can anyone help me to figured out how to install this one update? I should also mention that I have Windows Vista.

The update failed due to a corrupted file.
Find that update under your Window Update Folder
and delete it so it can be downloaded all over again.

Try uninstalling the last few updates by going to:
Control Panel
Programs and Features
On the left hand side, select "view installed updates"
Right click and uninstall the latest one(s).
The updater should be able to give you the option to reinstall. I have not tried this, but it should work.

Haven't used Vista, but a good tip to figuring out problems is to cut the entire error message (or at least the important bits) and paste it into a Google search. There's a great chance someone else has had that problem, a good chance they've posted somewhere for help, and at least some sort of chance they got an answer.

Ok, I deleted the last 3 updates and reinstalled them. Now it is saying there that two failed.

I have the same problem with an XP update system. I can't get past the WGA installation. I have resorted to buging the Windows help section and have tried no end of things but still I can't update. Might be worth bugging them for the Vista side.

The second one would have failed because it is already installed.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Ok, thanks for the help. It just was bugging me that the little icon is on my bar at the bottom every time I turn on the computer. Thanks for all the help!
