A Belgian prosecutor on Tuesday recommended that the U.S.-based Church of Scientology stand trial for fraud and extortion, following a 10-year investigation that concluded the group should be labeled a criminal organization.

Belgians are cool. I may even plan a vacation to Belginia.

Finally another country considers giving them a better label. If only in Denmark would could do the same. Us having a headquarter over here makes me somewhat miffed.

"For the last 10 years, the prosecutor has been using the media, trying to damage the reputation of the Church of Scientology and not being able to put a case in court," Scientology said. "As a consequence, this created a climate of intolerance and discrimination" in Belgium.

This is pure spin, something that Scientology is proficient at when not outright lying. It really only means, "We've been investigated for ten years, you should feel that this is bad and connected that its with intolerance and discrimination" i.e Any deeper examination of Scientology is bad.

It added that the prosecutor's recommendations suggested Scientology was guilty even before a court could hear the charges, making it "difficult for the Church of Scientology to recover and properly defend (itself) before the court."

I have a feeling that this is an outright lie. Anyone got any data on it? It makes my hogwash meter light up.

What's not to like about Belgium, now? They already had chocolate, mussels, waffles and Mannequin Pis.

I'm sure they will fight back. Let's just hope it's only in court, and they have been known to be associated with some physical and emotional methods... please see link for example:

I hope that Jean-Claude stays the course.

Belgium is a mystery - within an enigma - encased in a riddle - wrapped in bacon:

They have the best beer in the world - They have the worst food in the world.

It's a country of thin, happy people.

Belgium....known to the French Military as the Gateway To Germany, and to the German Military as the Gateway to France...althought the gate has swung a lot more in Germany's favor in the last few wars.
I am seriously thinking of going to Belgium on my next trip to Europe, primarily for the Battlefields: Waterloo and The Ardennes.
But I should go quick before that country feels the Wrath of The Mighty Xenu!

LOL at spokesperson saying the French Government takes a hard line because of its ignorance (01:50 to 02:00 minutes in). I can't believe their brass neck. How can such a secretive and deceptive organisation complain they are getting a hard time because others are ignorant of their schemes?

I have a great little history of Scientology which I will share after I manage to get my 15 posts accomplished. Not easy to do if I hope to say anything intelligent, oh well.

Well, its hogwash allright. There complaining that the prosecutor assumes their guilt. Yes, thats how it works, the prosecutor cant take a case to court without believeing he'll get a conviction = assuming guilt. They are just spinning it like the crazy people they are.

It always needs to be emphasized that people don't just walk into a Scientology org and get the Xenu story on the first day. There is a lengthy process of building up trust, controlling information, and then gradually eroding the line between reality and fantasy. I suppose it's like stage magic in a way.

Well, at least so far they don't trick one into drinking spiked Kool-aid! Just stealing money from the gullible, although many of the afore-mentioned gullible are famous and talented people who you think would know better!
Tom Cruz and Jon Travolta seem like intelligent fellows; I guess talent doesn't always lead to common sense.
