Apparently the news article on NBC has aged off their server, but the post here (http://www.lifelesspeople.com/forum/archive/bra-murder-21128.htm) quotes enough to get a general idea of what happened.
How many must die before these deadly weapons are banned for good?

I only had to get to the word "Victorville".

A good point. Though it could just as easily have been Barstow.

When will America wake up and require a bra permit to possess a bra!? Why do the bra manufacturers of the world hate America!!?? Won't someone think of the nursing children!!!???

And I definitely need a high caliber assault bra. I think I'll need a special permit from the ATF.

When bras are banned, only criminals will have bras.
"Look, mama, that woman has a funny thing to hold her breasts!"
"Don't look at her; she's a bad woman!"
Actually, I personally like the idea of a world where "good" girls are taught by their mothers to let their breasts swing freely

Bras are deadly - especially if they are underwired...

Bras were conductor in British lightning deaths
LONDON, Oct 27 (Reuters) - Two women were killed by a bolt of lightning in London's Hyde Park when their underwired bras acted as conductors, a coroner said on Wednesday. "I think this was a tragic case, a pure act of God," coroner Paul Knapman told an inquest into the deaths. He recorded a verdict of death by misadventure. "This is only the second time in my experience of 50,000 deaths where lightning has struck the metal in a bra causing death, but I do not wish to over emphasise any significance," the coroner said. The two women, Anuban Bell, 24, and Sunee Whitworth, 39, had been sheltering under a tree in the park during a thunderstorm on September 22. Pathologist Dr Iain West said both women were wearing underwired bras and had been left with burn marks on their chests from the electrical current that passed through their bodies. Death would have been instant, he said. Both women were originally from Thailand but were living in London and had been on a shopping trip when the storm struck. The bodies were not discovered until the following day because passers-by thought they were vagrants.

I was under the impression that up to a fifty was still legal. Color me impressed.

I believe that if the underwire is piano wire, you are in good shape for necessary strangulations:) .

Thanks. Now I'm plauged by an unprintable version of "Do your ears hang low?"

Statistically, bras are more likely to kill you than a burglar.
Think about it...
We need instant background checks for bra purchasers at Sears! Stop the department store loop hole!

I say it's a lot of hype. Next thing you know panties will be dangerous. Then boxers, then briefs. Then, in no time, everyone will be naked under their clothes. Then pants will be found hazardous, then shirts and blouses, then skirts. And I gotta tell ya, if we all gotta be naked all the time then I will have no friends. No friends at all.

Clearly we must ban bras from being taken on board airplanes now.

Yes, the line "can you throw them over your shoulder, like a continental soldier?" leaves a bad mental image, doesn't it?

Do...your...boobs hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie them in a knot?
Can you tie them in a bow?
Can you throw them over your shoulder like a continental soldier?
Do your boobs...hang...low?

But recent revelations have led me to reconsider my position on the danger of bras...is it the bras themselves that are dangerous? Or is it what they contain?

They are. :) 50 centimeters and below are just fine, get'em at any store. You want bigger? Then get an exemption from the BATFE or pay the $200 tax. I think most of the women in the world will need an exemption; 50 cm is like training bra size. Har har.

Okay, I have never heard of the great bra debate until I read this thread and did a quick search on the internet. All kidding aside, are there ANY benefits to wearing a bra beyond large breasted women liking the support? Or is it entirely a societal/sex appeal sort of thing?

I should warn you all, the only way America can be safe from my bras is if I stop wearing them all together. However, the rate of global warming will have to substantially increase, if you'd all like to keep your eyes.
Therefore, I demand a set of hands to hold up my breasts and $1,000,000,000 (I've got student loans, damn it) or else America will face the consequences.
Make your decision... wisely.

If I see a woman with a bra on an airplane, I'll disarm her!

Well, I'd probably have to practice for awhile before I could come to a wise decision. If it's within my power to keep America safe, then the billion dollars is nothing.
As far as the global warming goes, I'm told I have warm hands.

Wait a minute. I think I see your problem. Most women wear them one at a time anyway. America can be safe. Though I was looking forward to choosing wisely.
But this brings a question to mind: Why are panties plural (a pair of panties) and bras singular? Shouldn't it be the other way around?
