So who's up for writing a 50,000-word novel in November?
http://www.nanowrimo.org/
I know I am! I did it last year, and I was so proud of myself when I crossed the 50,000 word finish line. The novel itself was crap, and I knew it was crap, but it was a great learning experience and lots and lots of fun. I started my outline last week, and I'm so excited! So who's with me?

The temptation is there, but alas not the time... PhD thesis breathing down my neck :(
And I felt fairly low last time after starting the opus nonetheless and then caving in after two weeks. So it'll have to wait till next year. Go poke Pisci, if I remember correctly he's got a Failure to Complete to iron out, too :D

Yes I am going to do this! I just found out about it a few weeks ago.
My novel will be crap. :)

Somebody ran a parallel program for writing a screenplay in a month and I tried that. Got to page 22 at the end of 30 days. :eye-poppi
On the other hand I wrote my latest script in 3 weeks. Oh - I did 3 solid months of research prior to writing a single word of the script. So I guess it's timing. :)
No one can write a decent novel in a month - yes it will be crap - but if it's FUN then DO IT!!! And if one halfway decent idea or concept is happened upon, as a result of such a venture: COOL BEANS!

I did this back in '01. Needless to say, my novel was crap.
Be sure to read the NaNoWriMo forums. There's a lot of tactics you can learn and use when you're stunt-noveling (extreme-noveling?).
