View Full Version : A South African opinion

Hello
I am a South African and I have never travelled to the US. I have a keen interest on US politics and history.
9/11 was a significant day in our recent history, and felt fortunate to have been around to have witnessed most of the events live on tv.
I am a civil engineer, I was actually sitting in a structural engineering lecture the exact moment the first tower was hit.
I fully accept the official version of the events that transpired. Basic logic lends itself to the official story. Engineering logic and scientific principles tells me that the building collapsed just as the official reports state it did. In fact my structural engineering lecturer described to us his theory on the 12th of September 2001. His theory was exactly the same as what the official version is today. All he had seen was the videos on cnn.
The months that followed hundred of peer reviewed articles appeared in British structural engineering journals where well qualified and highly experienced engineers postulated the exact same theories as the official one.
Reading the numerous conspiracy theories does however make me laugh. The psuedoscience methodology adopted by the individuals is flawed beyond reasonable comprehension. No plane theories seem to take the cake in my opion. The methods that some bloggers use to explain the theories is laughable at best.
Anyway looking forward to some healthy intelligent discussions.

Also very interesting. I would love to read some of these hundreds of articles...can we have some links or references for them (if you can recall, or have such on your computer)...
Thanks

Well it was 6 years ago, but I do remember the name of the journal, which I read in our library - (The Structural Engineer published by the Institute for Structural Engineers - IStructE) , a quick search on their website ( i can't post links yet, still new, but you can search for their site) reveals numerous articles relating to the collapse of the WTC and structural engineering issues related to the topic -
The engineering proffesor who lectured us at that time was Professor A. Zingoni from the University of Cape Town.

The irrepressible Gravy has a short list at his debunking website (http://wtc7lies.googlepages.com/nist%2Cfemareports%2C911structuralengineerin) -- always room for more.

Let me be the first to welcome South Africa to the NWO/Neocon Co-Prosperity Sphere. :D All kidding aside, welcome to the Forum.
My experience was similar to yours. I was at Boeing Commercial in Everett, Washington the morning of the attacks, working with senior designers. Not a single thing about the attacks looked the least bit implausible to us, either. It still doesn't.

Thank you buka, I will attempt to look them up and see if any of their articles, or at least abstracts, are available online.

I was assured by Mr. Ngembe Osobuto of the Nigerian Oil Ministry that he would attend to that detail personally, being such a close neighbor and used to handling large sums of money... ;)

a first scan of their site using the search tool and "world trade center" as well as "9/11" and "2001 wtc" doesn't seem to yield much or relevance.
A big site in terms of content, for sure.

Welcome, Buka.
You mentioned the Brits - but of course we YANKS aren't exactly chopped liver in the engineering department, either. NIST, amongst other organizations, is rather esteemed in those areas:

Hey-All checks go through the US Mail (sorry--Postal Service) at some time. They are all routed through Las Cruces, NM, which is our delay drop... Sometimes they are too efficient (at delays) down there...:D

Do a search on World Trade Centre - scroll down to 2001, there are two topics titled "World Trade Centre Collapse". The other numerous topics listed there relate to structural failures in similar conditions and engineering to prevent similar failures etc.

Be sure to give him your bank account number and your credit card number as well, so that he can wire the money directly to you.

Hi! Welcome to the forum. :)
What was your screen name over there? The mods over there can be a bit inconsistent. For instance, this guy (http://z10.invisionfree.com/Loose_Change_Forum/index.php?showtopic=15652) hasn't been banned (yet):
Okay Im new here. Here is a brief back round about me. Im 34, male. I am an airline pilot for a major airline ( I will not name the airline so dont ask) My honest opinion on this and that of me peers in the industry is that your all nuts.
At least he doesn't beat around the bush. :D

It was the same as the one I use here. It was a satirical post. I postulated how the actions were planned and carried out, based on troofer theory. It was quite funny. Well I thought so anyway. I know it was a bit trollish of me, but couldn't resist making a humerous account of the troofer theory.
I see the post was deleted.

Yes they are quite famous for that over there. It is ironic how a forum all about "truth" is run in such a heavily censored and authoritarian manner.

This is really strange, please be assured we are working on this at our end and be assured buka001 your NWO payoff cheque will be given the utmost attention, please could you PM your personnel banking details to me so we can check them against our files, thanks. ;)

Slightly belatedly, welcome to the forum, buka001. Civil and structural engineers are always welcome here, as you guys generally debunk the more esoteric conspiracist claims very effectively. I hope you enjoy the debates.
