Woohoo! I prayed to god that some story would be able to get the
ridiculous, unimportant, whiney OJ Simpson stories off the table - and
here it is:

Republican assistant US attorney John David Atchison competes
with the Gay-Airport-Scandal guy Larry Craig - "stupid news galore!!!" :

A detention hearing is scheduled for today in the case of a federal prosecutor from Pensacola charged in an online child sex sting in Detroit.

John David Roy Atchison, 53, was arrested Sunday at the Detroit Metropolitan Airport after traveling to Michigan on the belief he was going to have sex with a 5-year-old girl.

Is there any republican out there who isn't involved in lying, child-abuse
or other criminal charges yet?

Lincoln is the sole Repbulican on that image. And uh, you two. The Republican party is huge. Statstically speaking, there are bound to be rotten apples (not defending this guy, but..)

Hi

Putting the E into JREF.

TR was a Republican. He is on Rushmore with Lincoln, Jefferson, and Washington.

Theodore Roosevelt, Jr. (October 27, 1858 – January 6, 1919), also known as T.R., and to the public (but never to friends and intimates) as Teddy, was the twenty-sixth President of the United States, and a leader of the Republican Party and of the Progressive Movement. He became the youngest President in United States history at the age of 42. He served in many roles including Governor of New York, historian, naturalist, explorer, author, and soldier. Roosevelt is most famous for his personality: his energy, his vast range of interests and achievements, his model of masculinity, and his "cowboy" persona. His last name, often mispronounced, is, according to Roosevelt, "pronounced as if it was spelled "Rosavelt." That is in three syllables. The first syllable as if it was "Rose."

I appreciate this posting style Oliver. Story in the first post, then your "color remarks" in the second post. Its a style I use sometimes to first open a topic and then add my own cheap shot to it so that the story itself it presented with as little "noise" as possible.

Roosevelt and Lincoln were Republican, Washington was a Federalist, and Jefferson was a Democratic-Republican.

He did that, of course, after seeing what Taft had done to the country as a Republican president.

You can thank him for Woodrow Wilson winning in 1912. :)

I'd still like to know why Oliver thinks this guy is a Republican...

Perverts come from all stripes. Remember Mel Reynolds (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=21585)?

Various underwear choices and sex acts are graphically described by Reynolds to his youthful female target. This includes a planned threesome with a 15-year-old Catholic schoolgirl named Theresa. Awestruck with the prospect, Reynolds rhetorically asks, "Did I win the Lotto?"

Reynolds must have felt like it, when he was pardoned by Bill Clinton. I'm going to walk out on a limb here and guess that Atchison will not be pardoned by Bush.

CNN had a report in which they said that he's an republican.
But unfortunately - the Video isn't available anymore:

And what's even stranger - all coverage about the story disappeared:

http://search.cnn.com/search.jsp?query=Atchison&type=news&sortBy=date&intl=true

Nowhere in that story does it state he is a Republican.

No, someone posting on Kos made that claim. And it is based on:
The only registered John Dave R Atchison (John David Roy Atchison)registered in Florida is a Republican from Gulf Breeze (Pensacola suburb) born in 1957, which fits the other information.....
Which makes him 3 years too young to be the 53 year old arrested in the case.
