I was just watching an episode of the above program. Each week they go underground in famous cities and show some of the amazing structures hidden under cities

This week was New York's turn. During the show they interviewed a chap,George Tamara (Dont trust the spelling) Who helped construct the orginal bathtub dam around the WTC site in the 60's and was called back in to repair the dam after the collapse of the buildings.

He explained that the debris had to be cleared from the site extremely quickly because if the dam was damaged badly enough there was potential for most of lower Manahattan to be flooded.

I am wondering if anyone knows of this gentlemen, or if truthers have ever tried to rebutt this arguement. I know one of their favorite smoking guns was the speed of clean up - but this seems an entirely reasonable reason for the speed of the operation

And hey Gravy, if you are reading this. Have you ever heard of M42 in New York City :)

The only time I've come across any mention of the state of the bathtub from the truth movement is where Judy Wood uses the lack of damage to argue that the twin towers didn't actually collapse on it, but were dustified by beam weapons from space - http://janedoe0911.tripod.com/StarWarsBeam1.html#Bathtub deals with this aspect. It's Tamaro, and he works for Mueser-Rutledge engineering. Nice guy. I have heard this explanation, but it's only a partial one. Initially, debris was cleared quickly to give access to cranes and to aid rescue operations.

The M42 is a midtown bus line, and it's also the Messier number for the Orion nebula, which we don't get to see very clearly in New York!

Yeah he interviewed really well, explained how the walls where built intitially. Part of the construction was to drive tie rods 35 feet into the surrounding soil. Amazing stuff. Seems that the towers were built some 800 feet out from the orginal island shore line, so the usual process of driving into the bed rock was not available to the engineers

M42 apparently is a special installation underneath Grand Central, a bit of an artifact from WW2 where the generators produced most of the power for the east electric train system. It was so sensitive that if members of the public somehow stumbled onto it they could be shot without question. Though the few that did find it where interned for the duration of the war

From what the narration was saying, the place still doesn't appear on any ground plans or blue prints. Anyone interested in New York's history would get a real blast out of some of the things they explore.

There's a "Cities of the Underworld" episode about the Freemasons and their secret caves. Woooo!

Wasn't there a Scotland episode? Amazing that no one ever put 2 and 2 together and figured out why people living amongst filth were dying of the plague... and they just closed off the streets with a roof!

But it was a potential high-value target for saboteurs, who could affect the economy and complicate troop movements by destroying it. It's not a place you can "stumble upon." I've been down there and it's about 10 stories below ground, far from any public areas, so whoever was caught there without a valid reason probably deserved the interning they got.

Well during the show, the made the crew turn of the cameras to stop people geting clues of how to get into the thing. But in my mind it opens a far wider topic. People go chase phantoms like 911 when there are all these amazing (Albeit harmless) structures to amaze people. I mean from the footage it looked as big as a football stadium down there. Or maybe I am just easily pleased lol
