View Full Version : My birthday party!

Yee haw! I'm having a birthday throwdown on October 6 at the Redline in Harvard Square. It's a duel party with my friend Amanda. All JREFfers are invited, so long as you're not creepy. The creepier you are, the more presents you need to bring.

RSVP on the evite (http://www.evite.com/app/publicUrl/jillunicorn@gmail.com/drunkathon) if you can make it!

I'll do my best to make it - and bring a creepy gift of course.

So are you legal yet?

Just barely, according to that web site with all my pictures!

A duel party! Sounds kinky. Swords, pistols, or lightsabres?

Also -- happy birthday!

I will see about making it up there! I'd love to have an excuse to visit Boston again. :)

Happy Early Birthday, Rebecca. I wish I could come but I live far away. I'm really creepy though! I'll send you creepy vibes from down south, k?

I already spent $17.50 on your gift at Target, so I'm coming. Oh and Kitten2 picked it out, so you know it has to be good.

I was looking at a lovely scarf or something, but Kitten2 fixed things up for you.

Sorry Rebecca, but some of us will be totally otherwise occupied across the country that night (BusterCon!). And no, earlier notice wouldn't have helped....we've been planning for 13 months!

However, it is in San Francisco, so I'm certain several levels of creepy presents could strike me as suitable for you!

I am one of the creepy people you were talking about, right?

(I also have the urge to get you a copy of "Charlie on the MTA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXgo2GTKPEg)", because you're at the Redline. That's just how I'm wired.)

Does anyone have a truck I can borrow? My car isn't that big.

heh...Would you believe I've actually sung that song on stage?

I'm not kidding. Though I was part of a bluegrass band, and no accordions were present. Fortunately.

And before you ask, no, there's no video evidence of the event. :D

Happy Birthday, Rebecca!
So did you ever go to a museum where they had a big "fertility wheel"-type display? You rotate the wheel to your birthday and it shows you the date of your conception (more or less).

I don't want to rob you of the suspense. But I did visit such a display. I was born October 8th; and all I can say is that for my parents, it was a really, REALLY happy new year's party!

Then again if I know you at all, I'd say you were already aware. Of that, I mean.

silly person.

Evil like Rebecca is spawned from a demon seed.

She arose from a graveyard at midnight.

Question: Do guests have to bring a gift? or can a guest *be* the gift?

Also, does anyone know where I can buy a large bow? And also, maybe a boetie and a couple of shirt cuffs...

The Pros
Rebecca throws really awesome parties, and this ought to be one of them.

Another chance to hang with all my groovy JREF friends!

There are a few other things I wanted to see in Boston.

If I go to her party, she might be more likely to attend my next party.

She actually wants me to come, for some strange reason.

The Cons
Six to eight hours total travel time (round trip). Driving myself is hardly worth it. But, if I manage to catch a bus, or something, at least I can get lots of reading done!

I have to mangle up some of the other events on my calendar, in order to make it.

Facing the dilemma of deciding what present to get her. (I assume she will already have a dozen deep fryers before I get there. ;) )

Some of my not-so-groovy JREF friends are bound to show up.

I would have to put lots of effort into somehow making myself look "not creepy".

Hmmmmm...

Damn it! Why are the people whose company I enjoy most, the ones I rarely get to see? I'm inundated daily by irritating lackeys, pretentious goons, boorish louts, and buffoons and morons of all types. There is never a shortage of asswipe, neo-maxie zoom dips hits who seemingly can't wait to worm their way into my personal space, but the scoundrels and rogues I love and those brilliant folks who light up my life and truly give me reason to smile breach that barrier only rarely. If there is a god, he hates my *********** guts.

Wish I could be there Rebecca. (Damn, I just realized I haven't seen you in person since Vegas.) But you'll be in my thoughts, and I know with all the leachers and misfits from this board showing up, you'll have a great day.

Happy Birthday!!

by Demon Seed, you're not referring to the movie are you?

Plot Outline: A super computer succeeds in raping its creator's wife in order to recreate itself in a hybrid baby.

This sucks. It is just far enough away to be inconvenient but just close enough to be tempting. (Philly to Boston)

Looks like I was able to work out a rough draft of a plan to attend this thing!! So, it looks like I'll be attending it.

This sucks. It is just far enough away to be inconvenient but just close enough to be tempting. (Philly to Boston) Yeah, I know the feeling. Westchester (a bit above NYC) to Boston.

But, sometimes I just sing to myself "There ain't no mountain high enough, ain't no river wide enough..."

now the big question is what to do to celebrate her birthday? How can it be fittingly marked? Let me think...

Well I can think of one thing....

I assume there will be party favors. I would like a shetland pony, and for Steve... maybe a Pimp Cup. If they are personalised: his Porn name is Sir Shags-Alot

Had I known about the party favors, particularly the Shetland ponies... I would have carved out ample time to get to Boston from Texas! :horsehead
Dang it!
And I really wanted a pony too! :p

Seriously ~ Happy Birthday Rebecca!!

Wish I could attend your party too, and I hope that you and the rest of the crew have a great time!

Ooo I just saw this. I'll try to make it Rebecca (I know you'll be heartbroken if I can't ) Unfortunately with so little time left, I'll not have time to get a gift (would you like one of the SuperCorgi's old chew toys?) - so I'll try not to be too creepy.

Happy Birthday Rebecca!

5th October 2007, 02:19 PM

and now I'm coming. I was going to ask if this means I have to buy you another gift...

Hope it's still ok to come. I do have something for Amanda

Dingo isn't old enough to be drinking in bars. Maybe next year.

Let me be the first to say : I hope Rebecca feels better, after leaving the party a bit early.

Not sure exactly what happened to her: She was either ill or just ultra-drunk. Either way we wish her the best.

Other than that, the party was great! Thanks for the invite!!

DRBUZZ0

Had a great time. Wish I could have seen/talked with Rebecca a bit more, but as the birthday girl she was the center of attention and it was sometimes hard to get through the mob.

In any case, I had a good time. Many good people. No un-good people there... that I noticed at least.

Rebecca: Hope you liked the mic, but I will get you a stand for it if you need one, because I meant to include that. Will you be using it for the next podcast? I hope so!

Happy birthday!

Sorry I couldn't make it - came down with some sort of nasty, unspeakable stomach bug. I hope you had a great time (I'm sure you did since you usually do). Happy, happy, happy birthday to you! And super congrats on the NPR thing! You rock!

I think most of the gifts (except Dr.Buzz's very practical and welcome gift) were rather creepy.

Still, a lovely time was had by all.

Hey! My gift was practical! It was a gift card to the Apple Store.

Although, I must admit, I did write a mildly creepy adulation in the "To/From" lines.

What did she get? I didn't really see much as far as the "creepy" gifts

Was Rebecca crushed because I wasn't there? I guess she thought drinking to much would help her get over it.

1. Didn't make the football games, much to the anger of my team. :(

2. Creepy gifts: the shrimp chips, and whatever was in that snowglobe my friend Aaron gave me. That's about it I think.

3. My head is pounding and I feel like crap but I just got a little cheery feeling remembering that Scrut wasn't there.
