A friend send me the link to this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjGkRFFBd0A (part 1 of 3)

I found it fascinating, and I won't pretend for a moment that I am qualified in any of the fields that it goes into to make its points (history, astrology...).

So...

To all those who are qualified in the respective fields, how accurate are the facts in this video?

Not sure if this is the same video, but a poster named GreNME has this link going on dissecting something that sounds similar.

He is discussing it in detail in the last 3 pages of the ZEITGEIST thread over in the Conspiracy Theory sub-forum.

I think it's safe to say that you can be skeptical of many things in this clip. It all seems like total woo to me. And as if these things weren't woo enough already  They are basically picking stuff from numerous myhologies and make connections between this mix and astrology. Connections that seems totally arbitrary and made up.

As far as I know, for example (please correct me if I am wrong) there is no mentioning anywhere in scripture that Jesus was born on Dec. 25th, along with all those other mythological beings. I am not sure what the legends say about the other mythological characters.

The problem here is that this clip sputters out so many "facts" that it would take quite a long time to research all those beings and the legends around them, they will expect people not to do this but simply take their words for it. And even when their facts might be right, the connections they make between them are, as I said, arbitrary. You can find such connections between most anything if you look for it, it doesn't prove anything at all.

The thing is, many legends and mythologies DO share many similarities. But to make their reasoning work they seem to have exaggerated the similarities quite a bit. You can show that they are wrong about that ALL of the beings they mention really were born on Dec 25th (not a day before or after) and that this really is a well known part of all these different mythologies, then their whole reasoning crumbles.

This simply seem to be one of those things where woo tries to debunk other woo to make a case for their own woo.
