Boulder students protest "God" in pledge

I rather liked this part!

The Pledge recited by the student protesters today went as follows:

"I pledge allegiance to the flag and my constitutional rights with which it comes. And to the diversity in which our nation stands. One nation, part of one planet, with liberty, freedom, choice and justice for all."

I sort of appreciate the fact that the principal isn't antagonistic towards those students.

Joe, I'm with you. The principle's statement was admirable. He didn't address that they hoped to have "under god" removed, but, his support of a non-disruptive opportunity to challenge it was shockingly refreshing.

Yeah, it wasn't what I want to hear, but considering that the normal response seems to be "God is the foundation of this country, down with atheism!!", this wasn't half-bad.

These kids are experiencing the democratic process, and putting their ideas out to the community. Nothing that happened today is anti-American. Good for the kids. I'm proud that they follow the democratic process of telling the community about ideas they disagree with.

Wow. A principal that gets it. I'm shocked. Although to say "one planet" seems a little sci-fi to me. Perhaps "one world" would be more better?

Principal Skinner: That's two independent thought alarms in one day. Willie, the children are over-stimulated. Remove all the colored chalk from the classrooms.

Clearly this man should not be remotely near anywhere near a position of authority, he's far too balanced.

The kind of funny thing in the video I posted is that many (if not all) of the kids are clearly saying "One nation, invisible..." I recall saying the same thing myself, just because it was fun to say (what seemed to be) a prayer with the word "invisible" in it.
