I have to admit, I look up to the Dalai Lama, in a way. He's just an all-around cool guy. Of all the religious leaders of all the different faiths in the world - if I had a chance to meet just one "head honcho", I'd want to have a cup of tea with this guy. Because Buddhism isn't a "soul-saving" evangelistic religion (to my knowledge, at least), you could probably have a great conversation with him, without religion creeping into the discussion at all.
I'm also not particularly fond of the whiny Chinese government; so if his visit to the U.S. "ruffles their feathers", I'm all for it anyway.

What exactly does it take to claim the title of "Dalai Lama"?
Fifteen minutes in a steel cage match, I could be the new Dalai Lama...

No way. He'd kick your ass all the way from the other end of the cage.
Wait, I'm confusing him with that stretchy guy from Street Fighter.

If you ask me, he's not much of a religious leader.....I mean,...where's his goofy hat?

I have a friend who is a humanitarian/social activist of some distinction. He has met both the Pope and the Dalai Lama. When asked to compare them, he said (more or less...)
"When I met the Pope, his first act was to hold out his hand. I had to bow down and kiss his ring. When I met the Dalai Lama, his first words were "welcome to my home. Would you like some tea?"

I wouldn't put my lips on that thing! No telling where it's been.
This Pope is getting so old, he's fartin' dust.

What does the Dalai Lama do for his followers?
In terms of what can we measure his generosity (if he has any)?
Aren't there many incredible anonymous human beings who make more for the world than the so-called religious "leaders"?
Why the need to idolise the Dalai Lama?
