View Full Version : I guess if you believe in ghosts, homeopathy isn't far behind

I give up. I hope this isn't evidence that all people who are "into" horses are so gullible/unthinking - ghosts/psychis/homeopathy. Aaaargh. My arguments were weakish to some degree because I'm at work and just darting in here and there. I don't think they read any of the info I posted.

It's difficult to start with because you were in a forum of people mostly not familiar with the standards of evidence or the fallacies of individual experience. It was made more difficult by mixing the two topics (homeopathy and ghosts).

The only way to improve, though, is to keep doing it. You did fine. You made no factual errors I noticed, and you didn't lose your cool.

ETA: As a tactical consideration, you did open in a way guaranteed to alienate the crowd by calling it all "woo woo." That pretty much guarantees there will be little or no receptivity to your arguments.

Yeah, you're right about using "woo woo." Regretted it right after I posted, but it is SOOOOO frustrating. Ah well. At least one or two people chimed in in mild support (i.e., the difference between herbal and homeopathic, and the one realist who mentioned houses settling and making noises, etc.)
