That is sad. It's sad that the family got bilked and she sounds like a sad person. A nasty, cheating person, but a sad person as well.

I just can't believe she thought that hiding under blankets in a closet would work...

Chalk one up for the good guys. Canadian police arrested a fortune teller, Sophie Evon, who was charged with bilking a Seattle woman out of $220,000. Apparently Evon had been arrested once before in Canada, but had fled before she was extradited to the US.
Det. Craig Skelton said Evon was found hiding in a closet, covered with blankets.
"I would say she was resigned to the fact her run from the law was over," Skelton said.
"It's obvious she didn't want to go back to the States."

Now maybe we can round up some of the rest of them. I wonder if Robert Lancaster knows anyone who might be a good prospect, who has raked in millions.... :D

What makes her sound sad in the report? Nasty, cheating, lying, stealing all come to mind. Hope she rots.

Sad that she must have spent a good part of the last years of her life being a nasty cheat. What she did isn't just cruel it's a waste of time; she felt she couldn't/didn't want to do anything else with her life? That in no way means I don't think she shouldn't be held accountable and punished for her crimes.
I think people like Uri Geller and Sylvia Browne are sad individuals. Imagine what they could've done if they had put their energy into something true. That's sad and wasteful. That in no way means I don't think those two nasty, cheating liars and their ilk shouldn't be held accountable for their actions.

Welcome to Toronto. It is now filled with many more charlatans than Mr. Randi would remember.
Perhaps he needs to take a trip here soon.
How many more black bear gall bladders will it take?
We need James Randi here.

Hiding under some blankets in a closet when the cops come is rather pathetic.

Just splitting hairs I suppose. Sad sounds sympathetic, pathetic sounds about right.
