In terms of political craziness, I consider Ann Coulter and Michael Savage to be about on the same level and the both tell their audience exactly what they want to hear.
Now, here's what (I hope) I don't understand: Why is it that Coulter gets so much more high profile air play than Savage? Is it just that we have more tolerance for mean-spirited crazy when it comes in a pretty package? Or is it that she's a woman in some sort of ironic affirmative action thing?

I was going to start another thread about this, but since we already have this thread for her recent stuff:
Have you heard about Ann Coulter's personal fantasy (http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Coulter_If_we_took_away_womens_1003.html)? No joke I could make is funnier than her own words, so here it is, straight from the horse's <insert appropriate part of horse>.
If we took away women's right to vote, we'd never have to worry about another Democrat president. It's kind of a pipe dream, it's a personal fantasy of mine...
She claims that women are the only demographic that the Democrats have the edge in. I'm so grateful for her and the penchant she has for saying the most incredibly stupid stuff you can imagine. The Democrats don't have a better friend in the world.

I was struck by that as well... a situation comedy stands in for real life. She must also believe that six 20/30 somethings (Friends) can all afford fabulous NY apartments, that Fasier dispensed legitimate psychiatric help, that Different Strokes represented how most black orphans live, that the last two seasons of Good Times really describe the destruction of black families in America.
Perhaps someone could explain to her that what she sees in prime time programming has little to do with reality.
But, she also probably thinks of Torquemeda as a perfected Jew.

In the first section of her new book, Ann talks about all of the things she's said over about the last decade that ended her career.
I'm guessing in 4 or 5 years she will produce another best seller that will explain how this quote ended her career as well.
She is right though. Christians do essentially believe the New Testament fills in the blanks, perfects the problems, of the old testament. Of course, Muslims believe the Koran does the same thing for the old and new testament.

This will probably generate alot of counter-response, but I honestly think Ann Coulter needs to be violently raped.
In a John Galt sort of way I really feel that this is what she stands for, even if she is too narrow minded to know it, and someone needs to show her so she will wake up. Of course, this is assuming she believes what she says -- if she is actually a decent person and her whole persona is an act to make money (ala Andy Kaufman), then I guess the joke is on us.

I am still trying to figure out how being violently raped would make her wake up, which would presumably then make her somehow differently disposed toward whatever she is not for now.
I would tend to think it would get her spewing bile against even more sets of people, depending on who showed up to do your bidding on her person.
Of course, there is an outside chance she'd want to sell the security videos to the event, as an entirely new market of schadenfreude infected liberal Coulter haters might present a lucrative market for such snuff.

Saying outrageous things is her MO. It's her way to make sure that people pay attention. If she only said reasonable defensible things, she wouldn't get as much attention. Dead On.
About the only thing I give Coulter credit for is she knows how to push the buttons of liberals and the political left in general to get an outraged reaction, which garners her more publicity, and increases her credibility ..and sales....with her core right wing following. You think people would realise that an outraged reaction is just playing into her hands, but they seem unable to grasp it.
What is new about Coulter's act is the way in the past couple of years she has specifically played up to the religious right. Most conservative commentators would not launch an out and out attack on Darwin the way she did.

"Ann Coulter needs to be violently raped." would be more in keeping with AC's style of goading.

Democrats are perfected Republicans.

Just to jump on the ad hom Ann Coulter boat, I really would like to sleep with her.
I'm trying to quit drinking and waking up next to her might be the motivation I need ...

Wouldn't it be less painful to just cut out your own liver with a dull butter knife.

While it is arguably true that focusing on Coulter's calculated outrageous remarks allows her to "win" by giving her both a forum and the publicity she craves, I would also argue that when fools and demogogs who have a public platform say stupid, wrong, outrageous things, they should be examined in full light. We live in a society that theoretcially honors freedom of speech, but living in such a society requires to some extent that speech and ideas offered seriously (as opposed to that offered by someone clearly deranged) needs push-back, otherwise it may be endowed with a patina of truth or correctness. This is so from any political position...right, left and middle.
While calculated to be outrageous, I think it would be wrong to assume that she doesn't belive what she says. Indeed, I think she clearly believes what she says even as she rachet's it up to the Nth degree. That said, what she says is indisputible as theology for her type of "christian" -- arguably all christians? -- this is what the theology boils down to. Fine. But it is also a jumping off point for all kinds of evil, intollerance, etc.
If Jews are un-perfected and we live in a perfectable world, why not force their perfection? Not what she is arguing, but it is out there, and those who believe that are nodding their heads in unison with Ms. C. and paying money to listen to her.
Anyway, yes she thrives and profits by it all. Yes, she gets some "cover" because there is enough silent nodding to allow media to continue bringing her back on...but eventually, her foolishness will also be exposed for what it is because of such exposure.
Remember, more than a decade ago, David Duke in a smaller way, loomed on the horizon. He was a serious candidate for governor and I think Sentaor from Louisiana. He just kept talking, getting on talk shows and eventually people stopped listening or being interesed in the novelty or train wreck quality of his ideas and performance -- IMO. Today, he can be seen in Terhan at anti-holocaust conferences, but he is pretty irrelevent in American poltics.
Anyway, keeping the light on Ms. C. may give her an income, but I think it also insures the ultimate discredication of many of her positions.

Since we're in fantasy land here, I can think of hundreds I'd rather take on Mr. Toads Wild Ride before her. Remember there's always the chance that she would start speaking.
He didn't mention where the implants would be jammed. My first vote is to block up her mouth.

Someone in the Infidel Guy chat room last night called her a (very bad word). I took that as in insult to my reproductive organs.

Every time the Christian Conservatives (actually just this one guy a lot of you would love to engage, he seems to think all atheists are socialists if not communists) post links to Ann's "editorials" on Townhall.com or whatever I post a question asking the OPer if, since she's just an entertainer why he(they) keep posting links to her rantings on foru.ms.
For some reason that direct question is never directly answered.

Agree. And this has nothing to do with "being seen and not heard". This has to do with the last 3 pages in this thread.
A friend has an Ann Coulter doll. Small and cute. However, pull it's string and it spews "cute" saying in her voice. This should be seen and not heard.
Here's a link to one, along with the sayings. Called "Right Wing Barbi".

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when she and her agent plan these appearances. I wouldn't be surprised if they spend a great deal of time figuring out exactly what she's going to say each time. I wonder where the line is that she wouldn't cross?

She seems to think that Seinfeld is an anthropological documentary....
And why wouldn't she? Many of those "perfected Jews" believe that The Flintstones was an anthropological documentary as well! ;)
Dinosaurs, humans coexist in U.S. creation museum
PETERSBURG, Kentucky - Ken Ham's sprawling creation museum isn't even open yet, but an expansion is already underway in the state-of-the art lobby, where grunting dinosaurs and animatronic humans coexist in a Biblical paradise.
A crush of media attention and packed preview sessions have convinced Ham that nearly half a million people a year will come to Kentucky to see his Biblically correct version of history.

Go see how she is adored over at certyain conservative sites like hannity.com or freeconservatives.com
They will defend her most noxious ramblings. I am sure some conservatives dislike her but the many of the far righties love her.
She's from a far fringe group of one, is how I see her.
Most conservatives, at least you see where they are coming from but her trains of thought I wouldn't be able to follow with a map.
Liberals want to kill fetuses so they can spare Tookie Williams? What the hell does that even mean?

Besides, it is just plain wrong...liberals want to kill fetuses because it is fun...sparing Tookie Williams is just some sort of side benefit.

It's that Savage was always out there on the fringe, but Coulter was at one time a mainstream Conservative commentator who has since gone bananas.
That is an insult to bannana's. The Durian is a much more apropriate fruit.

Yeah, liberals are like that. Their favorite book (besides "The Communist Manifesto") is 101 things to do with a dead fetus.
