Thanks to a coworker who emailed the entire R and D department with this link, I became aware of the imminent danger I am in. Portland is planning a terror drill simulating a dirty bomb attack.

FALSE FLAG TERROR
During the alleged Terrorist attack on both 9/11/01 in New York City and 7/7/02 in London there were coordinated terror drills in operation. These terror drills shared many of the same characteristics and outcomes of the REAL events that occurred on those days. We are concerned that the upcoming may this same outcome and the drill may be flipped "Live" or "Real World".
If this report came from the MSM, I wouldn't take this seriously, but the source is Indymedia, whose journalistic integrity is world renowned.

I saw something about that yesterday at a woo/CT forum I go to. They linked to articles at infowars and prisonplanet. I was underwhelmed with concern.

Hmmmmm.....false flag in Portland....again....
Falseflagterror? is the same sort of nut that would be screaming if there were an actual emergency and the government wasn't ready for it.
They had one of these drills just a couple months back...and Pat at the SLC blog (Brainster on jref) can tell you all about the pandamonium non-event it turned out to be.
But just in case....run for them hills! Grab the women and chillens and all the duct tape you can find! ;)
ETA: Correction.....it was only last month.

Why does Dorset have terror drills? Surely it would be a low priority target?
Anyway, we'll send them John Smeaton just to be safe....

Glasga's answer to bleeding Chuck Norris.
Look between Capt Eric May, and John Smeaton, everything sorted, it's just nice to see Portland's indymedia's fact checker has earned their paycheck.

Wasn't Cheney going to blow up the Bay Bridge a couple months ago? Guess that didn't happen either.

Here in California we have general purpose disaster drills because of the Earthquake factor.Occasionally a specific terrorist scenario is thrown in.
I got pretty mad at the way some Truthers..and other people who should really know better, were ridiculing the FEMA recommendation of keeping a emergency kit at home (flashlights and batteries, duct tape, first aid kid, drinking water, etc) as being hysteria. That has been recommeded in California for years in case of an earthquake. And I would not be surprised if states in the South and Midwest have had similar recommendations because of Tornados and Hurricanes. The mistake the Feds made was emphasizing the Terrorists factor which politicised what is a pretty good idea.

U.S. Plans Biggest Terror Drill Ever
Three Fictional "Dirty Bombs" To Go Off In Portland, Phoenix And Guam
(AP) The nation is preparing for its biggest terrorism exercise ever next week when three fictional "dirty bombs" go off and cripple transportation arteries in two major U.S. cities and Guam, according to a document obtained by The Associated Press.
Yet even as this drill begins, details from the previous national exercise held in 2005 have yet to be publicly released - information that's supposed to help officials prepare for the next real attack.

Just pointing out they are planning the biggest terror drill ever and they still haven't updated anyone on the results of the last one.

Hmmmm...maybe they don't want the terrorists to know how well prepared (or unprepared) we are. That knowledge might help them out...dontcha think?

I participated in a dirty bomb/biochemical-weapon terror drill on my college campus in Los Angeles in...2004? 2005 maybe? I can assure you that there has been no subsequent terrorist attack in the area.
I can also say that they don't generally release public reports on the levels of "preparedness", but I do know that our Volunteer First-Responder group and Campus Safety were both briefed on the results.
Also, I'm pretty sure those results were Not Good. I don't think the proper course of action for "dirty bomb attack" is "make all students leave their dorms and classrooms, walk half a mile to the nearest underground shelter, then make the mill around on the lawn while we track down someone who can unlock the door."

House lawmakers were expected to demand answers Wednesday, including why the "after-action" report from 2005 hasn't been made public. Congress has required the exercise since 2000, but has done little in the way of oversight beyond attending the actual events.
Ridge, who launched his own security consulting company on Monday, said he's a big fan of the TOPOFF exercises. But he said "it's not acceptable" that the review from the 2005 exercise is still not released publicly.

There may be two reports. One for the general public/Senate/Congress and another for those in charge of Homeland Security. There would be aspects of such planning that one would not want potential terrorists to know. That a report that could be made public has not yet been released is bad form. The Dept of Homeland Security seems to be in a state of confusion much of the time. somewhat like FEMA during Katrina aftermath.
How about that ZENSMACK, I actually agree with you. Now don't go and ruin a good thing.;)
