Did anyone else catch this documentary on W5 last night?
I found it interesting to see the family deal with the war all around them. I was amazed at the emotional strength of these people.
The order of events was basically:
- light bombing
- heavy bombing
- looters
- religious sectarianism
The film showed looters tearing apart schools and hospitals and burning these buildings, and the people, including a cardiologist, seemed sicked by the mindless destruction, which seemed the natural result of years of pent-up anger and frustration. The american soldiers were shown protecting the ministry of oil building from the looters.
Here's where my skeptical nerve began twitching...how many buildings were protected by the American soldiers, and what was the nature of these buildings? Showing us a destroyed hopsital and home and then juxtaposing the well-guarded ministry building was an obviously political statement, but how true was it?
in all, I found it to be an interesting program.
