I didn't vote for Phil Bredesen, but he is doing a hell of a job. Likes most states in the US, Tennessee is facing budget deficits. Instead of raising taxes, instead of begging congress for bailout, instead of ballooning the state debt; Mr. Bredesen is actually _cutting_ the budget. You heard me right, he isn't cutting the rate of growth of programs, he is actually reducing the base amounts.

You guys in the PRK (People's Republic of Kalifornia) should take note.

The communists running California are faced with a $35 billion dollar budget deficit.

I am glad your governor got it together down there in Tennessee. It wasn't too long ago that Tennessee was sort of near revolt over taxes lol.

The sure fire way to make an economic downturn worse is to start balancing the budget. Like shutting the door after the horse has bolted.

I'm glad we live in a country where people who can't spell "governor" are allowed to vote.

The best way to destroy a country's future is to run up mountainous deficits to add on to an already mountainous debt.

Sort of like quitting your job and taking a second mortgage on your house.

Well, I think most of the governors are acting like your guy.
Of course, I think your state already has a lot of taxes.
Our guy is cutting cutting...but he has to do it the NH way.
No income tax, no sales tax, not too bad property tax.
I hope he's a magician.....
but at least he knows once you go down the road of taxes you get in trouble.

I don't know why this is, but I keep hearing it, over and over, so it must be true.
