This is the best poll we have seen. The questions are simple and to the point.

Question #1. The 9/11 attacks were carried out by the U.S. government.

Strongly agree= 5%
Somewhat agree = 4%

Question #2. The U.S. government knew about the plans for 9/11 but did nothing to stop the attacks.

Strongly agree= 15%
Somewhat agree= 27%

This poll seems to be right. It fits very well interms of turn out for 9-11 events and support amoung the media, politicians, and the general public.

Now why would an Iranian news station commission that poll, I wonder...

how does one somewhat agree that the attacks were carried out by the gov't? It seems more of a yes or no.

Truther:
42% of people in the USA believe that the USG knew 9/11 would happen, and they did nothing to stop it!!!

5% of 300 Million is 1.5 Million people.

That means there are 15 Million Truthers in the USA according to the poll, and another 12 Million who are fence sitters leaning toward their side of the fence...

That is scary.

Not really. I'd imagine there's a lot higher percentage of people that answer stupid poll questions like that one in the positive for their own self-amusement than actually believe that rot. :p

Heh. I'm guessing these aren't exactly the results they might've hoped for...

The margin of error is +/- 3.2 percentage points. Margins of error are higher in sub-groups.

Hee-hee-hee!

Polls are meaningless unless you can somehow mobilize the support you supposedly have.

Twoofers can't and that's all that really matters.

i think theyd go for "51% (4+5+15+27) believe inside job" (if its alex jones add the "no opinion" numbers to that as well)

I've seen this poll before, but I personally don't believe polls mean much. But it's always a nice rebuttal of the "84% of people think the government did 9/11!!one!!11!"

Anyone want to explain the difference between someone who "somewhat agrees" and someone who "somewhat disagrees" that 9/11 was carried out by the USG?

Maybe they think the neocons were trying to attack us but were too incompetent, so al-Qaida had to do it.

That's a good question. I'm wondering the same thing...

It's probably the difference between "it's possible" and "I doubt it".

In summary, like most polls, this is v. v. stupid.

A local radio presenter down here refers to polls as "some guy reckons you all reckon".

It's an artifact of how surveys are done. I've yet to really get my hands dirty with quantitative analysis, but from what I know from my friend who have, you have to set up a 5 point scale in order to keep your results signifigant.

Binary questions don't have the same significance after being run through statistical analysis. Some of that is to maintain consistency within the results in order to weed out contradictory respondents who lower the credibility.

In a poll like this, that isn't going to be used in an academic setting, it may be overkill but there's a tendency for higher level methodology to creep across into popular consumption at times.
