Randi Rhodes, a liberal talk show host at Air America, was mugged in NYC. She was walking her dog on Park Ave and 38th st? when she was attacked. Apparently she was recovering at home.

What makes this a conspiracy you ask? Good Question. Many liberals/progressives think this was a right wing conspiracy. Why? Randi did not have a purse on her and the location of the mugging is an upscale area. Supposedly this means that only some right wing nut job could have attacked her in an attempt to silence her and all things liberal/progressive.

I, as an EMT/paramedic student in NYC, do rotations on Manhattan ambulances. We get called to this area all the time. There was a shooting a few blocks away. There are several welfare hotels within walking distance that the average person wouldn't know about, not even liberals. We regulalry pick up EDPs otherwise known as crazy people inthe general vicinity. Knowing this, Rhodes could only have been attacked by a gun toting, pick up truck driving, Nascar fan.

Cat's out of the bag, this is currently being discussed on the Ed Schultz Show.

Randi is not ever shy - ever - about sharing many aspects of her personal life with her audience. It's part of her charm. We know a lot about Randi because she has no compunctions about telling us.

Difficult to believe that the names Ann Coulter and Randi Rhodes were mentioned in the same sentence for comparison. That's a bit like comparing George Bush to Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Both men, both presidents, and that's about it.

She's known as The Goddess and that is because, despite her strong opinions and outspoken nature, there is a seam of familiar likability that shines from Randi, always. This is a person who cares a lot about people, is passionate, is dedicated. Obviously she is a Democrat.

She's also the funniest person on political talk radio.

Here's hoping that The Goddess mends fast and well!

Always, Big Ben. Once you get to age 50, you take everything with a grain of salt. Even salt.

I wouldn't even consider that this mugging was politically motivated, based on what we know currently. You go with the law of averages on this one. NYC is known as mugger's heaven and that's what you start with.

So we'll just see. The guy who did this - he should hope and pray that we never meet up. Could ruin his whole day.

Sorry,but Rhodes is a public figure by her own choice (no one made her become a talk show host ) and if you are a public figure who gets mugged it will be written about.

The only time I've ever tried calling in to a radio show was when she was fawning over conspiracist Paul Thompson. I picked up the phone when his claim of a NORAD stand down went unopposed. Remember, Rhodes used to be in the Air Force.

Are you sure about that? Over the course of the past several months, even her fans at DU have been less than impressed with her - they claim that she is rude and obnoxious to everyone, even lefties, and, of course, they take exception to the latter.

So perhaps you should take it to the politics forum if you want to discuss her little radio show and her politics rather than conspiracy theories, which is, of course, the subject matter of this particular sub-forum.

If you want to talk about her radio show within the realm of conspiracy theories, then it is appropriate to do so here, but you have to be able to separate the two distinct issues. With regard to her radio show and 9/11 conspiracy theories, she certainly does not appear to be a rational or critical thinker. Rather, it appears that she promotes or advocates tinhatters because it suits her political purposes to do so. That's not rational or critical thinking.

New York Daily News reports she was not mugged.

John Elliot, another AirAmerica host, may be responsible for starting the mugging rumors. He said she was mugged but has since apologized for his errant reporting. He originally reported that she was attacked by a right-wing hate machine.
