View Full Version : Manipulated Video: New or Old?

Was talking with one of those "I'm not a Truther, but..." Twoofers when he brought this video to my attention:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ALbkzSGvmLM

Not wanting to be mislead, I tracked down the footage. It appears to be this footage:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dYHPGdIzueA

My question is, has it been shown that the "pop" sounds in the first video were added? Because even though the second video is low quality, I can't hear anything like these claimed "pops."

Also, the "pops" in the first video seem....artificial and fake.

Yes I believe it was faked quite a long time ago. Sorry I don't have the link for you on it right now though. I am sure someone else will provide it.

You found the original one and the fake sounds. Show the truther the original.

I saw the original a long time ago, and then I saw the enhanced sound one last year.

I did.

His claim was that the original version had been censored before aired, with the sound taken out.

He then says that the manipulated footage is the real footage as it was shot.

Yep it's fake. There are some threads here talking about it (I'll see if i can find them) but all one has to do is notice that there's no audio of the people screaming until 29 seconds in. meaning if this was real then a.) people waited politely until the charges stopped going off before screaming or b.) the cameraman waited until he was running to calibrate his mic to pick up human voices.

Oh, it gets better.

His argument as to why the added explosions was so muffled as to imply that a "quiet" explosive was used.

... Ask him what kind of "hushabomb" was used. (Trust me it''l be fun.)

Yes, the sound has been manipulated. I do not hear anyone shouting "OH, myo God in the second clip. (Interestingly, Killtown has been pushing a video clip with the same voice of it as proof of some delusional point or other on another forum. I smell the Webfairy here.)

I checked out the webpage of the people who put this clip together. Whackadoodles, to say the least. And would it surprise you to know that they have an ad for Ron Paul on their site?

http://www.lonelantern.org

Got to looking at some of the information on the page. Seems they devote a lot of space to a certain Barton Buhtz. So I Googled him.

Ewww! Another tax protestor with apparent marginal religious whackadoodleness about him. Why am I not surprised?

This is a real piece of work.

The "Lone Lantern" site seems to be mostly Ron Paul it seems. You can buy a Ron Paul stamper to mark your fiat money with, and there is even a donation button.

What if instead of giving your hard earned dollars to corporations for everything Halloween including costumes, candy, decorations, haunted house admissions and movie tickets you used that money to support Ron Paul? Could we raise $1 million dollars in a day? Could we raise $2 million? What about $10 million?

Too bad he is only accepting gold bullion at the moment. Why would anyone want to spent money on consumer goods when they can give politicians soft money instead?

Well, seeing as how there were only male fire fighters visible within sound range of the camera, the female voices kind of give away which is the genuine article, eh?

Then there is the sudden pixilation of the image after the camera had been lowered to at least waist level as the cameraman ran. It looks like he dropped it or something. Note that the sound, mostly of the rushing debris becomes garbled and makes a squeeking like a tape getting twisted in the original.

I had to go digging around through the videos that the old biddy has on her list, but you might find the sound at the end of this clip interesting in this context.

Indeed they are.

And so is the so called 9/11 'truth' movement.

Ask him his proof that the manipulated footage is the original. Ask for references at ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/Fox/etc who filmed and can vouch for the "original" having those pops.

Of course he'll just say "They've been silenced... MAAAAAN"

Was the audio manipulated by the Discovery Channel? I don't think it was but Twoofers are accusing DC of misleadin' them (Myyy gooodnesss).

I know how you feel. One twoofer I was arguing against simply claimed that the first one was "clear audio" and the second one wasn't. Of course that troll was more interested in attention than the twoof.

Alright, seems like he's realized his mistake.

I brought up the fact that if the manipulated one was the real version, you'd expect to hear the same sounds as in the original, just not the "pops."

As proof, I offered the sound of a car alarm going off at about 18 seconds in the original video. This car alarm does not appear in the manipulated footage. The fact was then brought up by another poster that it appears that someone in the manipulated footage screams "Mon dieu!" whereas someone in the original footage screams "My God."

But he was still asking about silent ways to take down a building.

I think he was curious, but methinks he's read too much of the "truth" movement's posts:

That could be a technology that makes no noise... whether it's something that superheats and slices through steel, or some form of laser, or whatever. There are other things besides explosives that can demolish buildings.

Perhaps if we encased the explosive in a vacuum.

Now this is getting a bit confuzzled. It is in the manipulated version that some says "My God!" I do not get the sense that this person was exerting himself in any way, such as by fleeing down the street like a jack-lighted cockroach on steroids, which is exactly what this old fire horse would be doing at that point.

In the real version, the one with the rushing, rather than popping noises, the only thing I heard anybody clearly say was "RUN!"

Given the circumstances, it would be most predictable that someone would say that.

I think we were both wrong.

I just listened to the real version again, this time with my better quality Sennheisers, and it sounds like someone yelled "Go. Go, Go! Go!"

Well well well Trisket...

Man, this Lone Lantern Society of America is a barrel of laughs!

The narration at the end of the video which insists with laughably affected gravitas, "We are a group of true American patriots" (to the tune of Yankee Doodle, no less) is especially comical. And a little later comes this claim: "Through our network of members we are distributing DVDs, flyers, and hope, fast becoming the epicenter of truth for the awakening" You could cut the pretentiousness with a knife!

:dl:

But it only gets worse, as the narrator then breaks into what I originally presumed was just a poorly pronounced and unattributed Latin quotation; but I couldn't make any sense of it. So I did some googling and came upon this article (http://lonelantern.org/site/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=256&Itemid=211) at their site. Apparently they wanted to make a seal for their organization that would be the antithesis of the Great Seal of the United States, complete with a cool-sounding Latin motto. But instead of using some fitting quote already in existence they decided they'd come up with one of their own. And so it reads:

NUNTIUS NOVO GENERASCO LIBERTAS / FUNUS NOVUS ORDO SAECULUM

Unfortunately they don't know a lick of Latin, and it shows. A first year Latin student in junior high could tell you it's a garbled grammatical mess. According to the article it's supposed to say, "Announcing the New Birth of Freedom, and the Death of the New World Order". In fact, it's completely meaningless and untranslatable. "Generasco", the word they used for "birth", isn't even the right part of speech: it's a verb, not a noun. They couldn't even get the New World Order part (which doesn't actually mean "New World Order") right, even though it can be found on every freaking one dollar bill in the country. Maybe they're broke.

So not only are they piss-poor researchers on 9/11, using "Truther enhanced" videos as evidence, but they show themselves up as utter incompetents in everything they do. They were too lazy to even ask a Latin teacher or professor (surely some of them are attending college?) to make a translation for them. Or perhaps they were too ashamed of what he or she might think of their ridiculous motto. I don't know. Either way it's in keeping with the standards of research we all know to be ubiquitous among Twoofers.

The article also includes many other stunningly stupid assertions, including this one about the Great Seal: "The date inscribed at the base of the pyramid is 1776, the year the Illuminati was formed". Of course! What the heck else could that date signify?

Patriots indeed.

TriskettheKid

Patriots indeed.

That's why I always chuckle every time on of these "Patriots" talks about abolishing the income tax if they were President, or any of a dozen other hypocritical remarks in which the Constitution would be tossed aside in order to....you guessed it....go back to the Constitution.
